The franchise was founded in Dallas, Texas, in 2036 (S21).

Franchise history

Overview

The franchise was originally founded in 2036 by general managers, Gucci and Kyle as the Dallas Birddogs. Dallas has won three SFC Conference Championships in 2042, 2046, and 2049. They are 3–0 in Ultimini Bowl championship games and have been to the playoffs in six seasons in 2038, 2042, 2044, 2045, 2046, and 2049. They have been regular season champions of the SFC four times in 2042, 2044, 2045, and 2046.

2030s

2036–2039

As an expansion franchise, the Birddogs were not expected to compete right away. The teams were not given an expansion draft, but the 2036 DSFL Draft had enough prospects to fill their entire roster. Dallas selected quarterback Monterey Jack as their first ever selection in franchise history. They also grabbed some solid contributors in the draft like White Goodman (16th overall), William Lim (46th overall), and Mike Lee (81st overall). Dallas also made some big trades in the draft. Trading their 2037 5th round pick for Kansas City's 2036 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th round picks. They also traded with the Portland Pythons which would be later named the "most infamous trade in DSFL history". Dallas traded their 2036 25th round pick for Portland's 2036 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 24th round picks, as well as acquiring quarterback Gimmy Jaroppolo. Dallas ended up getting the biggest steal in the draft when they drafted future Hall of Famer Big Edd with the 155th pick in the 20th round.

Dallas had a less than impressive year in 2036 as they went 5–9 and finished last in the SFC. No players on their team really stood out above the rest, but rookie William Lim was disappointing with 46 receptions for 595 yards and a touchdown. Rookie runningback White Goodman had a decent season, finishing with 200 carries for 914 yards (4.6 yards per attempt) and 6 rushing touchdowns. Dallas' biggest accomplishment was their 3-game win streak from weeks 8 to 10 where they had a +29 points differential during the streak.

In the 2037 DSFL Draft the Birddogs made Tyler Mountain their first selection with the 2nd overall pick. Dallas also made a trade late in the draft with the Minnesota Grey Ducks, trading their 2037 7th-round pick and Minnesota's 5th-round pick in 2038 (become 4th if less than 5 rounds and 3rd if less than 4 rounds) that they got from a prior trade, for Minnesota's 2037 5th-round pick. They ended up drafting Byron Blackwell with the pick. Later in the draft, the Birddogs traded with Minnesota again. They traded away Malcom Jenkins for Minnesota's 2037 9th and 10th-round picks, nabbing them Atossa Atlas and Rick Casey respectively.

The 2037 season was a step in the right direction for Dallas, as they finished with a .500 record for the first time in franchise history. They also had their first ever 1,000-yard rusher in Kichwa Jones when he rushed for 1,410 yards on 268 attempts and 8 total touchdowns. Wide receiver Mike Lee took a step in the right direction when he caught 49 passes for 732 yards and 4 receiving touchdowns. Dallas finished 7–7 and finished 3rd in the SFC.

Going into the 2038 DSFL Draft the Birddogs were looking to bolster their offense and take a step forward. With their first selection, they took runningback Zoe Watts. Dallas made a blockbuster three-team trade with Portland and Minnesota. Dallas received Minnesota's 2038 and 2039 5th-round picks, Minnesota received Portland's 2038 5th-round pick and Portland received Dallas' 2038 6th and 7th-round picks. Not a lot of active players were selected due to this trade.

Dallas continued to make strides to becoming a franchise in the race for the playoffs. Dallas finished in 2nd place in the SFC going 9–5 and making the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Mattathias Caliban became the first player in franchise history to pass for over 2,000 yards when he passed for 2,325 yards on 219 completions (392 attempts) and 9 passing touchdowns. Zoe Watts became the first rookie in franchise history to rush for 1,000 yards. He had 237 carries for 1,160 yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. Dallas went on to lose to the Norfolk Seawolves in the SFC Conference Championship Game 19–17.

The 2039 DSFL Draft was one of the best drafts to date for the Birddogs. Their first selection was defensive end Raylan Crowder with the 6th overall pick. They also added multiple talented stars like Guy Fields, Milk Mann, and Bob Roberts. Dallas made multiple draft trades. They traded away their 2039 3rd and 8th-round picks for Portland's 2039 3rd-round pick. They also traded their 2039 8th, 10th, and 13th-round picks to the Tijuana Luchadores for their 2039 7th-round pick. They also made a trade with Minnesota for their 2039 18th-round pick in exchange for their 2041 69th-round pick. They selected 14 players in their draft class.

After a very well-fought playoff push the year before, Dallas was disappointing in 2039. Caliban threw for his second straight 2,000-yard season where he threw for 2,330 yards on 233 completions (395 attempts) and 7 passing touchdowns. Zoe Watts rushed for 1,303 yards on 264 carries and 10 rushing touchdowns. Watts became the first player to rush for double-digit rushing touchdowns in franchise history. Dallas finished their season on a 3-game win streak padding their season total of 6–8 and finishing last in the SFC.

2040s

2040–2044

Dallas made a blockbuster pick with their first selection when they selected runningback (formerly a cornerback) Cobra Kai. Kai went on to have a historical career with the Honolulu Hahalua. Dallas didn't make any draft trades marking the first time they didn't make a trade on draft night. They selected another Honolulu legend Big Slammu in the 3rd-round with the 18th pick. Dallas tied with the most drafted players with 8 in their draft class.

Dallas had a horrid start to their season, going 0–6 before getting their first win in week seven against the Norfolk Seawolves. Rookie of the Year Award winner Cobra Kai ran for 1,482 yards on 278 carries and 8 touchdowns. Marking the first time a Dallas player won the Rookie of the Year Award. Dallas finished in 3rd place in the SFC finishing with a record of 4–10.

In the 2041 DSFL Draft, Dallas selected safety Jim the Vampire 2nd overall. In the 2nd-round they selected another ISFL great, quarterback Joliet Christ Jr. with the 10th overall pick. Dallas traded their 2041 8th-round pick for Minnesota's 2041 9th-round pick and 2042 420th-round pick. Minnesota selected quarterback Joe Bay with the pick.

Dallas had a sub-par season in 2041 when they went 7–7 and finished 3rd in the SFC. Cobra Kai had another impressive season, winning his season straight Offensive Player of the Year Award. Becoming the first Birddog to win the award multiple times and being the first to win the award in multiple seasons in a row. He rushed for 1,722 yards on 378 carries and 13 touchdowns. Quarterback Christ threw 325 times for 176 completions for 1,997 yards and 9 touchdowns. Dallas did not make the playoffs.

During the 2042 DSFL Draft the Birddogs made wide receiver Chunt The Badgers with the 4th overall pick. They also added Bayley Cowabunga, Cole Maxwell and Mark Higgins.

Dallas made the best run in the history of their franchise so far. They went on a 4-game win streak to start the season which got ended by the Bondi Beach Buccaneers in week five. They went on a 7-game win streak before losing two games to end the season. Ending the season 11–3 they finished in 1st place in the SFC. Chunt The Badger finished the season with 111 receptions for 1,405 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had 33 kick returns for 616 yards and 40 punt returns for 233 yards. Runningback Sirdsvaldis Miglasķēms rushed for 1,280 yards on 312 rushing attempts and 15 touchdowns. Joliet Christ Jr. became the first player in the history of the franchise to throw for over 3,000 yards. He threw 484 passing attempts on 309 completions for 3,560 yards with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

The Birddogs ended up playing Tijuana in the SFC Conference Championship Game where they won their first-ever playoff game 28–27. In the Ultimini Bowl XXVII Dallas played Kansas City for their first ever Ultimini Bowl appearance. Dallas scored first with Christ throwing a 34-yard touchdown to Bayley Cowabunga to go up 7–0 with 11:52 left in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Kansas City scored 3 straight touchdowns to go up 21–7 at halftime. Sirdsvaldis Miglasķēms ran for 2 touchdowns with Dallas Dole making 1/2 of his PAT attempts making the score 21–20. Kansas City's punter Galarraga punted the ball 29 yards pinning the Birddogs at the Kansas City 46-yard line. After a couple of runs with Miglasķēms and a pass to The Badger, Christ threw an 11-yard and 12-yard pass to San Lorenzen to put them at Kansas City's 6-yard line, putting them in field goal range. Dallas Dole nailed a 23-yard field goal with 1:03 left in the game to make the score 23–21 and put them in the lead for the first time since the first quarter. Kansas City got all the way down to the Dallas 37-yard line and ran out of time securing the first Ultimini Bowl win in Birddogs history.

In the 2043 DSFL Draft, Dallas selected tight end Joey Marston with their 8th overall pick. They also added wide receiver Ivan Toastovich in the 4th-round.

Dallas didn't exactly pick up where they left off a season prior. They finished their season 5–9 and were two places lower than last season in 3rd place in the SFC. Bayley Cowabunga finished with 97 receptions for a franchise record 1,601 yards and 9 receiving touchdowns. Erik Gaare finished his season with 201 attempts for 1,023 yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. Christ finished his season with 4,130 passing yards for 29 passing touchdowns (to 17 interceptions) and an 89.6 QB rating, winning Offensive Player of the Year in the process.

The 2044 DSFL Draft wasn't the best for the Birddogs. Dallas drafted defensive end Ioe Torrent with the 2nd overall pick. They didn't add too much depth besides that pick.

Rookie quarterback Ricky Stanzi threw for 25 touchdowns to only 9 interceptions and 3,349 passing yards. Second-year vet Ivan Toastovich caught 58 passes for 1,105 yards and 3 receiving touchdowns. Erik Gaare ran for an unimpressive 993 yards on 201 carries and 13 total touchdowns (11 on the ground and 2 through the air). Dallas ended their season 9–5 grabbing a division title in the SFC.

Dallas ended up being upset by the 9–5 Tijuana Luchadores by a score of 26–13.

2045–2049

In the 2045 DSFL Draft, Dallas selected runningback Beniri T'Chawama with their first pick. They also added multiple great additions like Sakeem Webb (38th overall), Eleven Kendrick-Watts (46th overall), and Mike Oxlong (62nd overall). Overall they had a great draft.

Dallas was on the rise during the 2045 season when they went 9–5 and finished in 1st place of the SFC and got home-field advantage during the playoffs. Toastovich caught 93 passes for 1,534 yards and 12 receiving touchdowns. Ricky Stanzi completed 328 passes on 518 attempts for 4,513 passing yards as well as 38 passing touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

During the playoffs, the Birddogs played against Tijuana for the SFC Conference Championship. Dallas ended up losing the game 23–24.

Branding

Current logo

Team colors

During the early years of the franchise, the colors were navy blue, gold, and white to match their old-school style logo of a pointer god inside of a D, standing for Dallas. They later changed their colors to lighter blue, yellow, light grey, and white.

To begin the franchise, Dallas had a navy blue D with an all-gold pointer in the center of the D that stood for Dallas. They later changed their logo to a more colorful design with a more styled pointer. The new logo featured the same concept design as the old logo with more design put into it. They changed the D to yellow color with a lighter blue and white accent. They also added more color to the pointer in the center, giving it a white and yellow undercoat as well as eyes and mouth in a serious expression.
