Cuttino Mobley (born February 18, 2024) is an American football cornerback for the Dallas Birddogs. He played college football for Syracuse University (SU) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Mobley attended Passaic High School in Passaic, New Jersey. Named after the former NBA player, Mobley was a standout basketball player throughout high school. As a two sport athlete, he played cornerback, wide receiver, point guard, and shooting guard in high school. His breakout season came during his junior year. As a junior, he was The Journal News Player of the Year, where he shattered Passaic High School's interception record. Mobley committed to Syracuse University to play college football, however he received offers from Duke University and Rutgers University as well. Although he planned on continuing his two sport athelete dreams, he decided to focus solely on football after his first year.

Mobley is related to former DSFL safety Abbas Muhammad, who is his maternal uncle. Muhammad played for the Dallas Birddogs for two seasons until falling out of the league entirely. Muhammad played a couple seasons overseas before retiring. Mobley cites Muhammad as one of his key mentors and serves as his agent today.

College career

Mobley initially verbally committed to Duke University to follow in the footsteps of his mentor, Abbas Muhammad. However, he retracted from Duke and committed to Syracuse with the expectation of greater playing time.

Mobley played for Syracuse University from 2043 to 2047. As a redshirt freshman, he started seeing playing time during his sophomore season. During his sophomore season, Syracuse reached the Rose Bowl to play against the University of Oklahoma. Mobley had his first college start in the Rose Bowl, leading the way with 2 interceptions and a 44-38 victory. Despite his impressive showing, he found himself at the bottom of the depth chart and saw limited playing time in his junior year. Syracuse pitched an unranked season and Mobley had an unremarkable season. Midway through his senior year, Mobley saw some starts and increased playing time. Syracuse reached the Independence Bowl and, continuing his previous bowl success, Mobley had 2 interceptions, including a touchdown.

Mobley became a full time starter during his final year, posting 40 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 3 interception, and 12 pass deflections. His success in his final year earned him the Jim Thorpe Award. In addition, Syracuse reached another Rose Bowl with a 31-17 victory over the University of Oregon. Mobley declared for the 2047 DSFL draft following his final year. Experts projected him as a late round pick to potentially undrafted.
