Sakeem Webb (born November 24, 2023) was an American football cornerback. He played college football for University of Colorado (CU).
Early years
Sakeem Webb was born in Denver, Colorado on November 24th, 2023. The third of four children, Sakeem spent much of his early years tagging along with his older brother Javius, a former University of Colorado standout, who was unable to play in the DSFL due to a catastrophic knee injury. Watching his brother shine at the University of Colorado was a big part of pushing Sakeem to join his high school football team. Being shorter than most of his teammates, Sakeem was told he wouldn't excel at the position of Cornerback, due to the prototypical corner being well above six feet tall, but Sakeem turned his nose up at this idea and became All-State at Vista PEAK Prep, one of the best football high schools in Colorado, and finished his three year starting career at Vista with 33 interceptions. In his four years at Vista PEAK Prep he won 2 state titles and was considered for Cornerback of the Year in both seasons. Culminating in a win in his senior season at Vista PEAK Prep. He was awarded with a full-ride scholarship to play for the University of Colorado and was considered a four star recruit by most recruiting services.
Sakeem is an accomplished singer and was considered for a scholarship to The Juilliard School in New York City. But turned down the chance as he was more interesting in following in his brother's footsteps at the University of Colorado.
College career
Sakeem Webb entered the University of Colorado's football program as the second best corner prospect of 2042 on the roster. Immediately at his first camp he showed the jump and speed that made him dangerous at Vista PEAK. At pre-camp workouts he was clocked in at 4.32s on his 40-yard dash time. Showing that he had elite speed comparative to others at his position.
Webb entered his first season at the University of Colorado as a speedy slot corner. Tasked with handling the speediest and shiftiest receivers, Sakeem began to take on his nickname of Spider-Man (a play on the last name Webb) due to his acrobatic way of defending the ball and penchant for it to stick to his hands anytime it came near him. By the end of 2042, Webb had taken over the second CB position on the University of Colorado and finished the season with 7 interceptions and 2 touchdowns.
Sakeem spent his next two seasons leading the PAC-16 in interceptions as the starting Cornerback for the Buffaloes. Now taking on the role of kick returner these season, he showed a penchant for finding holes and averaged 17.2 return yards over the two seasons. His defensive play was a key factor in the Buffaloes defense being among the top 10 in the NCAA in 2043 and 2044.
His final season at the University of Colorado threw a setback at Sakeem. In the second week of the season he was hit low and suffered a torn MCL. Recovery kept him out out of most of the season. Before the injury Webb was seen as one of the top contenders for Defensive Player of the Year. Sakeem has signed a contract with the Bondi Beach Buccaneers of the DSFL to play for the remainder of the season with the team before being eligible for draft into the DSFL.
