Guy Günther Fields (born August 24, 2017) is an American football linebacker who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Northwestern University and has declared his intention to enter the professional ranks next season. He was drafted in the second round of the 2039 DSFL Draft by the Dallas Birddogs and the first round of the 2040 ISFL Draft by the Honolulu Hahalua.

Early years

Guy Fields was born as Günther Feldt in Vienna, IL to Gregor and Marianne (nee Eder) Feldt who moved there shortly before from their home of Austria. The only reason they settled in Vienna is that it is the same name as their Austrian hometown and they would not have to remember a completely new address. They shortly after changed their last name to the anglicized Fields and Guy began using his nickname as his first name because no one could pronounce it.

When he started High School Guy joined the soccer team. After trying out for different teams he joined the Football team and played as a Linebacker and Safety in an outstanding defensive team. He played most of his Junior season in the Safety position and did some work on Special Teams before nearly completely switching over to Linebacker in his senior year. Next to school, he worked in his parents' Schnitzel Restaurant that became a hub for his team after training and games.

College career

After being regarded as a 4-star recruit he was offered scholarships by Northwestern University and Washington State. He decided to stay in his home state of Illinois to play for the Wildcats and quickly started to work his way up the depth chart as a true freshman and played in all games of the season. Specializing as a coverage Linebacker he became a valuable part of his team when they encountered heavy passing but was not especially useful at rushing the passer or stopping the run game.

He worked heavily on these traits in his next season and while he would always excel at coverage, he was able to formidably get better in the other parts of the game. After a small injury in his junior season where he had to sit out the last 4 games he returned with a blast for his senior and last season of college where he recorded 6 interceptions including two pick-sixes and played with the team in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Guy decided to declare for the draft and forgo his final season of college eligibility after being advised to do so by his High School coach who continued to follow his college career closely and always stayed an important advisor to him.

DSFL career

Guy Fields was drafted by the Dallas Birddogs in the second round of the 2039 DSFL Draft. While a lot of mock drafts saw him going early, he told Media he was very surprised to go so early in the draft and to one of his preferred teams on top of that. He impressed early in training camp and was thought to be a starter from day one.

2039 DSFL Season

Fields started taking snaps in the preseason for the Birddogs after an impressive training camp. He started turning heads early in the Middle Linebacker position recording nine tackles and a forced fumble in his first preseason game against the Minnesota Grey Ducks. He would continue to record for 14 more tackles and a tackle for loss in the rest of the preseason and was announced a starter as Middle Linebacker in the very young Dallas defense shortly afterwards. While the 2039 campaign of the Dallas Birddogs was generally considered to be a disappointment for most analysts and league media it was clear that Fields was starting to make an impact as a player almost instantly. He led the league in tackle numbers for rookies, finishing only 3 tackles behind the leader with 120 tackles. He would fall behind his fellow team colleagues on impact plays though, recording only one tackle for loss and 2 defended pass through the whole season.

Fields was announced as a new Dallas Birddogs team captain in Week 2 of the season and received two defensive game balls throughout the season, especially his 15 tackle and one defended pass performance in a loss against the Portland Pythons in Week 7 stood out where he nearly was able to beat the DSFL game tackle record.

When asked about the upcoming ISFL draft Fields mentioned he was excited but wouldn’t mind playing another season in the DSFL with the Birddogs before he gets called up.

ISFL career

Fields was invited to the ISFL combine and impressed analysts with his versatility in the Linebacker position and his work ethic. He was picked with the 7th pick of the first round in the 2040 ISFL Draft by the Honolulu Hahalua and was called up immediately to the ISFL.

2040 ISFL Season

Fields was called up and played all 16 games of the 2040 ISFL season. The team recorded a 8-8 record and missed the playoffs.

2041 ISFL Season

After a good offseason the Honolulu Hahalua came into the 26th ISFL season with lots of hope to improve their 8-8 record from last season. After starting out 0-6 that hope diminished quickly and the hope for playoff contention was over shortly afterwards when they were eliminated in Week 9. They ended up 3-13 finishing last place in the ASFC. Fields was mostly used as Middle Linebacker throughout the season and recorded good statistics with 125 tackles, 3 Interception, one Fumble Recovery and his first Touchdown of his ISFL career. In the offseason he signed a three-year extension with the Hahalua.
