Bob Roberts (born February 2, 2018) is an American football safety for the Dallas Birddogs of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Bob Roberts was born in Newport News, Virginia, to his mother Roberta Roberts, who worked as a waitress at TGI Fridays, and an unknown father. As a youth Roberts was a standout in the Newport News area as a dominante football player on both sides of the ball, playing both Safety and WR during his youth, in High School Roberts and the Warwick Raiders won states 3 out of 4 times. Roberts was also involved in the High School Basketball Team, as a PG, the team made it to the state finals. Roberts was also involved in the Boys Scouts of America, earning the Rank of Eagle Scout and serving as the Senior Patrol Leader for his troop. As a High School Standout, Roberts Recieved many offers from LSU, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Florida State, UVA, and Michigan State but decided to join the Auburn Tigers

College career

Freshman Season

Roberts was redshirted durring his true freshman year, he spent the time working out with the first team, and training hard. This was the first time Roberts did not start a game in his entire life.

Sophomore Season

Roberts did not make a real impact for most of the season, he struggled against the top SEC teams, and was benched halfway through the season. In the secound half of the season, injuries meant that Roberts would have his chance again, and this time he would take his shot. In the Iron Bowl Game, Roberts caught a game winning Pick-6 winning the game and the love of the Auburn Faithful, Auburn played in The Tim Tebow Bowl against Michigan, and won

Junior Season

Roberts came into this season riding the high of last years Bowl win, dominated for the Tigers, catching 10 interceptions and being voted All-SEC, Auburn beats Alabama again in the Iron Bowl, however lost in the college playoffs against Ohio State. Roberts decided to forgo his senior season and declare for the DSFL Draft, in order to follow his dreams of making it in the ISFL

DSFL Rookie Season

Roberts was drafted onto the Dallas Birddogs in the 7th round of the DSFL Draft. In dallas he was forced to compete with three other safeties, all battling for his position, so Roberts spent the majority of the season filling in at corner back, where he played as a number two corner, where he struggled initially to adapt to the change to a high level. Despite early struggles both individually and as a team, Roberts finally hit his stride in week 4 against his hometown team the Norfolk Seawolves, where despite a blowout by the Seawolves, Roberts finally was able to make some plays deflecting a few passes for the first time in his DSFL career. He expanded on his game the next week against the Minnesota Grey Ducks, where he did not give up single completion. Roberts soon developed into a strong player at both his natural safety position as well as the corner position. Roberts standout game, was the 28-25 loss to the Kansas City Coyotes, where he recorded his first and only interception in his first season, which he almost returned for a pick six, but was stopped 2 yards short, this lead to Dallas, who where down by 14 points, to almost comeback against a team who was dominating against them. While the Birddogs struggled for most of the season, the Birddogs where able to scrap back to a 6-8 record, winning the last three games including a shutout win against Minnesota, and two narrowly won games against the Bucs and the Pythons. Roberts, now receiving a decent amount of attention from the ISFL team, decided to declare for the ISFL draft.

S25 In the third round of the DSFL Roberts was drafted to the New York Silverbacks and was called up right away to play a rotational position in the first ever season of the expansion team. With an undeveloped and raw playstyle it was near impossible for Roberts to make a huge impact. The only game were Roberts recorded stats was against the Arizona Outlaws were he forced a Fumble from RB Gunnar Thorbjornson. New York struggled hard in their first season but had many young exciting players to fall back on.

S26 In this season Roberts had developed enough to play a true starting role with Roberts filling in at both Nickle Back, Strong Safety and Corner Back. With Roberts playing a more critical role in the defense, Roberts was able to shine, with him thriving and winning the Defensive Breakout Award for his performance. New York made a huge impact with them making the playoffs this 2nd season and making it to the Conference Finals. Despite being the 1 seed New York was forced to play away and lost by a single possession in over time.

S27 With Thor Kirkby getting Older, Roberts was able to secure the Free Safety role on the team, this season he was used a bit as a wild card, with him Blitzing more than playing in Coverage with Kirkby and Dogwood Maple playing more in coverage. This season New York narrowly missed the playoffs by two games. This was a fall back to earth for the team that had struck gold the season prior however New York knew that the next season was were they would start their competitive window.

New Yorks first season in their window, Roberts began to shine brighter than he ever did, with him leading all safeties in interceptions and taking home the Safety of The Year Award and helping New York secure the two seed. This was great they un-luckily lost to Austin in the first round of the playoff. While heart breaking New York knows this should be the first of many chances in the playoffs.
