Hammerfall had a frustrating year with only 14 total rushing attempts for 61 yards and 8 total receptions for 55 yards. It was a frustrating and difficult year for Hammerfall to endure as the Otters under performed and continued their Ultimus drought. The Otters announced they were beginning a total rebuild and moving on various veterans to build up draft capital. Reginald Shrubbery was traded to the Baltimore Hawks which has promoted Hammerfall to be the lead back in the Otters' offense going forward. Hammerfall will be looking to next season after a year of riding the bench and learning behind Reginald Shrubbery.

Hammerfall commented that he "feels that next year will be my true rookie year. Now that I have been given a clear signal from the coaching staff that I've nailed down my road, I can actually start delivering. You give me the ball and the world will rumble." Fans will hope to see him reach the heights of his DSFL career in which he led the league in rushing touchdowns and went for over 1,000 yards. Hammerfall may well have preferred to have added to his legacy in the DSFL rather than enduring such an inane first season in the ISFL.

The 2063 season was a pivotal year for Reginald Hammerfall, who stepped up as the lead running back for the Orange County Otters. Following a rookie season where he barely saw the ball, Hammerfall exploded onto the scene, amassing 742 rushing yards on 192 attempts and scoring 11 touchdowns. His versatility was on full display as he also contributed significantly in the passing game, with 48 receptions for 412 yards and an additional touchdown.

Hammerfall's performance was a bright spot in a season marked by highs and lows. The Otters finished with an even 8-8 record and fought valiantly in the playoffs, only to fall short in the first round to the New Orleans Second Line 23-34. In his first ISFL post season game Hammerfall set new career highs with 112 yards rushing and a touchdown (his first 100 yard rushing game as an Otter) along with 40 yards receiving. Despite the disappointment of an early exit, Hammerfall's emergence as a reliable offensive weapon has set a solid foundation for the team's future.

The Otters are in a rebuilding phase, brimming with young talent and this infusion of youth points to a promising future for the Otters, with their championship window expected to open from 2064 onwards.

"This season was about proving myself and showing what I can bring to this team. I’m proud of what I accomplished on the field, but it’s just the beginning. Our record doesn’t fully reflect the heart and potential of this squad. We’ve got a lot of young talent ready to make waves, and I believe our window for greatness is just opening. We’ll come back stronger, faster, and hungrier. The Hammer is just getting started, and so are the Otters."

Hammerfall appeared to have lost his starting role to Animal Blundetto and had just 79 rushing attempts for 336 yards and a touchdown and 286 yards receiving and a touchdown through weeks 1 to 7. Blundetto saw the lion's share of opportunities leading the back field with 101 attempts, 440 yards and 7 touchdowns over the same period.

Relations had broken down with the Otters and the only thing to confirm was whether Hammerfall was leaving under free agency or was to be traded. It was within Hammerfall's gift to get the last word over the Otters as he was under no obligation to sign any deal. This, coupled with the news that Blundetto was not willing to commit to the Otters' rebuild and was set to join the Yellowknife Wraiths at the season's close, meant all leverage lay with Hammerfall.

Hammerfall signed an extension with the Otters as a gesture of good will to enable them to recoup some draft capital from any trade which would be much needed for their rebuild. Hammerfall was then traded to the New York Silverbacks along with linebacker Crazy Tomato and $4m cap space at the end of the season in exchange for New York's S50 (2064) Round 2, Round 3 and Round 4 picks. Hammerfall had opted for and landed in an emerging force within the ISFL that had Ultimus aspirations.

Hammerfall was given the lead role on Special Teams returning both punts and kick offs at the Silverbacks. From kick off in his debut in Week 1 v the Honolulu Hahalua, Hammerfall recorded a 90 yard return on his first touch as a Silverback though they would go on to lose the game 31-20. Hammerfall recorded his first touchdown as a Silverback in their Week 2 victory v the Copperheads (14-20). Hammerfall was awarded the ISFL Offensive Performance of the Week in Week 3 with a stat line of: 19 attempts for 179 yards and 2 TDs and 4 rec for 69 yards as the Silverbacks put Hammerfall's old team the Otters to the sword 43-3. He posted strong stats the next week (87 yards rushing, 41 receiving with 62 return yards) in Week 4 in a 26-26 tie with the Outlaws.

Reginald Elmsworth Hammerfall (born January 28, 2038) is an American football runningback for the New York Silverbacks. He previously played for the Orange County Otters of the ISFL where he was drafted 10th overall in the Season 47 ISFL Draft.

He played college football for the Durham University Saints (DSAFC) before being drafted by the Dallas Birddogs 6th overall in the Season 46 DSFL Draft.

In his only season with the Birddogs the team won Ultimini XLIV and Reggie led the league in rushing touchdowns.

Early years

Reginald Elmsworth Hammerfall, born on January 28 2038, in the gritty city of Stockton, California, emerged from humble beginnings to become a dual-sport sensation.

Family

Raised in the heart of Stockton, Hammerfall was born to a hardworking father who toiled as a steelworker, shaping the city's backbone with the sweat of his brow. His mother, a former investment banker and ring girl in the world of professional wrestling, added a touch of flair and showmanship to the family dynamics. Reginald was not the lone star in the Hammerfall family constellation. He grew up alongside a battalion of nine brothers. The Hammerfall's have a family pedigree in unicycling, baseball, professional eating, athletics, boxing, wrestling, fishing and kabaddi which meant Reggie was brought up in a competitive environment. However, he is the only of his family to try his hand at football.

His older brother "Iron Mike” (born Michael Cecil Hammerfall) was a baseball prodigy with a fastball that struck fear into opposing batters. Iron Mike played two seasons for the Norfolk Tides before retiring early to pursue a career in wrestling. Reginald’s younger brother "Lightning Lance" (born Lancelot Archibald Hammerfall) was a track and field sensation who dominated the 100m and 200m at the Diamond Athletics League before becoming a merchant sailor based out of Douala in Cameroon. Reginald’s twin brother ""Bronze Bobby,"" is also an up-and-coming amateur boxer who has appeared multiple times as a professional wrestler.

In 2059 Reginald describes his childhood as "typical" in an interview with a local radio station SLVK. He went on, "we had Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons.. in the Spring we'd make meat helments. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and my brothers would beat me with reeds - pretty standard really. Toughened me up."

Dual Sports Dominance in High School

In the hallowed halls of Conyers School, Hammerfall’s became dual-sport phenom, effortlessly conquering the wrestling mat with the finesse of a seasoned grappler. His mastery of the football field, however, was where he truly thundered onto the scene, playing both on offence and defence, earning various accolades and championships.

Freshman Season

Hammerfall became Durham Saints' starting running back during his true freshman season. He was named the Newcomer of the Week after rushing 132 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-56 loss against Roehampton University. Hammerfall repeated as Newcomer of the Week the following week after rushing for 183 yards and three touchdowns whilst also catching three passes for 73 yards. He finished the season with 897 rushing yards and nine touchdowns whilst also catching 23 passes for 252 yards and one touchdown.

Sophomore Season
The following season witnessed a significant metamorphosis for Hammerfall and with a year of experience under his belt Hammerfall was named starter in all twelve games. Hammerfall rushed for over 100 yards in seven straight games to start his sophomore season and finished the season as the league leader in rushing yards with 1,572 on 279 carries and twenty-one rushing touchdowns while also catching 23 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

Junior Season
As a junior, he finished with 1,472 rushing yards, 302 receiving yards and twenty-three total touchdowns. Following the season, Hammerfall announced he would forgo his senior year and enter the ISFL draft.

Reginald Hammerfall was drafted with the 6th pick of the first round by the Dallas Birddogs in 2061 (S46).

2061

In his debut for the Birddogs, Hammerfall faced off against the Norfolk Seawolves and carried the ball 14 times whilst churning out 51 yards on the ground. Hammerfall found the end zone twice and for his outstanding performance was awarded the offensive game ball.

Offensive Gameball Winner - Debut

The Birddogs schemed away from the ground game for much of the season leading Hammerfall to let his frustrations go in a locker room interview after week 3: "Put the balls in my hands! If you want to win games you gotta utilise your strongest assets. Me and the guys are onto Kansas." After little improvement in week 4 Hammerfall stormed out of an interview after commenting: "Honestly, it's like they've got blinders on! I'm out here ready to run through a brick wall, and they're handin' me the ball like it's a hot potato. Fifteen carries? Come on, man! I know I can do more if they'd just give me the chance to prove it."

Whatever frustrations the team appeared to have they put this behind them in week 5 when Hammerfall accumulated over 100 yards (103) for the first time in his career in a 24-20 loss to the Minnesota Grey Ducks in which he scored another TD and became a central part of the Birddogs’ offensive scheme. Hammerfall then rushed for 117 yards on 28 attempts and three touchdowns vs the Royals in a highlight reel day for both him and the Birddogs in a vital game which changed the momentum of the Birddogs’ season. This was followed by a disappointing week 8 but in week 9 the Hammer came back once again with a career high 141 yards and 2 touchdowns vs the Luchadores. Hammerfall went on to accumulate a league leading 13 regular season rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown for a season total of 16 touchdowns including the playoffs.

After soundly beating the Royals and lifting the Ultimini in his rookie year, Hammerfall commented: “After grinding through the trenches and clawing our way to the top, we've proven that even in the face of adversity, we got that dog in us! Chappy Mcchapperson, you're the conductor of our offensive orchestra, the dude has finesse.. he's a maestro! And to my brothers in arms, Seventh Rounder and Lane Frost III, you've left defenders in the dust like mere shadows in the night sky! Those rookie cornerbacks especially, they puppies.. you got a lotta learn about this league and who them alpha dogs really are! But let's not forget our defensive hounds, led by my boy Dewey Greenbeans and the mighty Huge Yakman, who've guarded our turf with the ferocity of hungry wolves! In the Ultimini, we didn't just win—we brought the power, doggin’ on them boys! Awooooooooooooo!"

2062

Reginald Hammerfall was drafted with the 10th pick of the first round by the Orange County Otters in 2062 (S47).

Pick 10 Round 1 2062 (S47)

In Hammerfall's first season he was running back two behind Reginald Shrubbery who was entering his fifth season in 2062 and coming off ASFC Pro-Bowl, All-Pro and ISFL Offensive Player of the Year honours which limited Hammerfall's role.

Hammerfall had a frustrating year with only 14 total rushing attempts for 61 yards and 8 total receptions for 55 yards. It was a frustrating and difficult year for Hammerfall to endure as the Otters under performed and continued their Ultimus drought. The Otters further signalled their continued troubles by announcing that they were beginning a total rebuild and moving on various veterans to build up draft capital. Reginald Shrubbery was traded to the Baltimore Hawks which promoted Hammerfall to be the lead back in the Otters' offense going forward. Hammerfall was looking at a more prominent role after a year of riding the bench and learning behind Reginald Shrubbery.

2063

Despite the disappointment of an early exit, Hammerfall's emergence as a reliable offensive weapon looked to have set a solid foundation for the team's future as the Otters continued with their rebuild.

Reflecting on his season and the team's performance, Hammerfall shared his thoughts: "This season was about proving myself and showing what I can bring to this team.

2064

Hammerfall appeared to have lost his starting role to Animal Blundetto and had just 79 rushing attempts for 336 yards and a touchdown and 286 yards receiving and a touchdown through weeks 1 to 7. Blundetto saw the lion's share of opportunities leading the back field with 101 attempts, 440 yards and 7 touchdowns over the same period.

Hammerfall held a press conference in relation to his limited role and to address speculation regarding his future with the team. He aired grievances around his use in his rookie season but also with his usage behind Animal Blundetto.

He stated: "this season has been challengin’. I've been relegated to a more limited role behind Blundetto, despite my continued development and readiness to contribute at a high level. My opportunities on the field have been severely restricted, and it's been frustratin’... I believe I have a lot to offer, and it’s difficult to feel sidelined and undervalued... I am considerin’ all my options, includin’ free agency at the end of this season."

In Week 8 and in a much expanded role, Hammerfall had a career game to showcase his talents and recorded the league's top Offensive Performance in a dominant win against the Berlin Fire Salamanders with a stat line of 18 attempts, 149 yards, 2 rushing touchdowns, 1 reception for 46 yds and 1 receiving touchdown.

It seemed that Hammerfall had finally arrived as the Otters sought to build momentum into the second half of the season. However, worse lay ahead as a murky decision by the ISFL Head Office expunged the stats and results of Week 8 and ruled the fixture be replayed. The Otters lost the do-over 41-27 and the momentum of the season was brought to a juddering halt as Hammerfall went for only 68 yards rushing and a touchdown with 51 yards receiving.

A further press conference took place in which Hammerfall alleged: "I was always told I was RB1 when Shrubbery left. It is only from today’s meeting that I am now being told that the GMs were less than honest with me. They originally told me that this season was just bad luck and then that there had been an error in the playbook. Now I am being told that there was an agreement between the GMs and Blundetto. How is that supposed to make a guy on a rookie contract feel?"

The Otters went on to lose 10 straight to end the season 3-13.

2065
