Earning the nickname ‘Rascal’ for his surprisingly clever movements at the line of scrimmage, Carrasco did not fill up the stat sheet, but his presence was always felt when he was on the field. Not least because of his height and reactions allowing him to generate a number of pass deflections from his interior line position.  Carrasco earned most improved honors in the Sun Belt in 2061, and was second team all conference in 2062 among a deep roster of talented defensive tackles.

As the season progressed Juan grew into his position a bit more, but the team's performance was more uneven. Still, heading into week 14 the Royals had a chance to advance to the DSFL playoffs. Facing off against the Portland Pythons both teams entered with an 8-5 record. Juan recorded three tackles in the game, but also was penalized for roughing the passer penalty late in the first half. In the end the team fell to the eventual S47 Ultimini winning Pythons.

Controversy swirled around Carrasco entering the S48 ISFL draft as an embarrassing DWI incident hit newsstands immediately before the draft. Together with uneven performance during the year it was unclear how early a team would be willing to take a chance on the unpolished product. In the end he was selected in the second round by the Chicago Butchers.

After the draft Juan was encouraged to participate in a tea retreat/substance abuse program. It was a great help in preparing him for season 48, where he would again return to the London Royals of the DSFL. Expectations were high for the Royals as they returned many of their defensive standouts along with their running back Zigzag Zipstep.
 +
 +
Rejuvenated by the tea retreat Juan had his best outing of the season in week 1 with a sack and forced fumble. It was his first sack in the league and helped put the viral video of him not being able to sack a traffic cop behind him. The defense and Carrasco continued to have great success through the first half of the season starting with 7 straight regular season wins. Until an embarrassing 38-6 loss to the Luchadores brought the team back to earth.
 +
 +
Standout play from rookie QB Dexter Morgan helped the Royals steady the course. Finishing the regular season with a record of 12-2. The defense allowed league low 15.8 points per game, led by their captain Finn Murphy and a squad of great retuning Royals like Roman Alexander but also bolstered by great rookie showings from Kim Yeon-Seok and Hot Dam. The conference championship game against the Minnesota Grey Ducks felt like a formality. The Royals had bested them twice in the regular season by a combined score of 61-26, but the Royals failed to seal the deal losing 33-24. Juan himself had a disappointing game not even registering in the box score.

 +
In the meantime the ISFL franchise Juan was drafted by (Chicago Butchers) had moved to Osaka and renamed themselves the Kaiju. Rascal had shown great development in his second year with the Royals, adding a pass rush component to his game, but still wasn't the complete package. He knew he needed to add strength to his frame, but was somewhat limited by the strength training facilities in the DSFL. Entering the season 48 offseason Juan prepared to move to Osaka and hit the gym.

When Juan was drafted by the Chicago Butchers he welcomed the opportunity to return to his home country. It’s not that he disliked London, it’s just that Rascal was a creature of habit and London had so many new things to get used to. But when the time came for Juan to be called up in season 49, it was not for a homecoming but yet another culture shock. The franchise relocated and rebranded to become the Osaka Kaiju, and Juan’s rookie season would be one of transformation.

On the field Juan performed admirably. As part of a rebuilding defensive line he often held down the nose position. He made good use of the strength he built up in the offseason to build an effective wall at the line of scrimmage. His 40 tackles were the most for a rookie defensive lineman by quite a far shout. But at the same time there was nothing flashy about Juan’s play. His single sack was a gift from what was basically a muffed snap, generating no negative yardage. He had no tackles for loss, and only the one forced fumble.

It was part of a transitional period for the Kaiju as well. With rookie Quarterback, Russell Jimmies taking his first snaps under center for the Kaiju. It started off strong, but ultimately faltered, leading to a winning record, but no playoff games for the team. Hopes are high as the team returns many ascending players for their next season.

Juan 'Rascal' Carrasco (born July 14, 2040) is an American football defensive tackle playing for the Osaka Kaiju (formerly Chicago Butchers) in the S48 ISFL draft. He previously played for the London Royals of the DSFL. He played college football for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Early years

Born in Houston, Texas, Carrasco received no formal education aside from an apprenticeship in the family taxidermy business. Mother Esmerelda, a church choir leader and father Enrique, a one man Zydeco band performer also made music a central part of Juan’s upbringing. Always big for his age (or any age for that matter) Carrasco was a surprisingly nimble and energetic athlete excelling at a variety of athletic endeavors (catfish noodling, washboard strumming), but never became involved in organized sports.

After a freak noodling accident hideously disfigured several of Juan’s fingers he thought he would never play the washboard or stuff an armadillo again. While he could not work commercially as a taxidermist he could pursue the craft from an academic setting. After completing his GED he enrolled at the renowned graduate school of taxidermy at the University of Louisiana. He will defend his doctoral thesis, ""Upholstery and the Opossum: Mastering the Marsupial Matte"" in the fall.

College career

College athletics were never part of Juan’s plans at Louisiana, but his unique size caught the eyes of the Ragin’ Cajuns coaching staff and he was encouraged to walk on to the team in his first year at the school. A raw and unpolished talent it was not until his third year that he saw consistent playing time. But thanks to the tireless work of the coaching staff (citation needed) the pieces started to fall into place and Juan’s unique combination of massive size, instinctive reactions and adroit hands made him a standout performer.

Carrasco earned most improved honors in the Sun Belt in 2059, and was second team all conference in 2060 among a deep roster of talented defensive tackles.

S47

Drafted in the 6th round of the S47 DSFL draft by the London Royals, Carrasco was instantly thrust into the starting lineup. Alongside a talented defensive line consisting of Maurice Gunner, Rex Havoc, and Roman Alexander the team got off to a hot start with dominating defensive performances helping to win their first three games. Rascal himself, however, faced significant growing pains making the jump from college. These first few weeks saw him rarely enter the box score.

S48

After the draft Juan was encouraged to participate in a tea retreat/substance abuse program. It was a great help in preparing him for season 48, where he would again return to the London Royals of the DSFL. Expectations were high for the Royals as they returned many of their defensive standouts along with their running back Zigzag Zipstep.

S49
