The Osaka Kaiju are a professional American football franchise based in Osaka, Japan. The Kaiju currently compete in the National Simulation Football League (NSFL) as a member club of the league's National Simulation Football Conference (NSFC) which currently only has one division. The franchise was established in 2030 (S15) as one of the two expansion teams formed to help with the size of the 2030 (S15) draft class. The Kaiju played their first game in 2031 (S16).

History of the Osaka Kaiju
The Osaka Kaiju started out as the Chicago Butchers and were one of the two most recent expansion teams, along with the Austin Copperheads, of the National Simulation Football League. The Butchers began their football operations in the 2030 (S15) draft.
In 2064 (S49) the Butchers relocated and re-branded as the Osaka Kaiju. Throughout all of the Chicago Butcher’s existence, the branding has often been considered contentious. Inspired by Chicago’s meatpacking industry, the team was named the butchers to reflect on that time and show that same gruesomeness on the field. As such, the logo featured a steady hand wielding a blood stained cleaver with the Chicago Star prominently featured on its flag. However, not everyone was amazed by the logo and its slight gorey features or the Butcher branding, while others considered it their favorite and was the most intense/hardcore in the league.
The Butchers left the USA and, after a full marketing review of opportunities on the continents of North America, Africa, and Europe they settled on a bid from Osaka with a full re-branding of the franchise. The following of American football in Japan has been growing with its own professional and college league. Osaka specifically, is home to two professional X-league teams and six colleges who sport a team in the Kansai league so it was thought plenty of American football fans would be excited to start cheering for a local ISFL team.
Why the Kaiju?

Cherry blossoms, Mt. Fuji, Samurai, Ninjas are probably some of the first things that come to mind when people think of Japan. But thanks to the popularity of Godzilla, the idea of Kaiju has been spread around the world. King Ghidorah was utilised as the base design of the logo to incorporate the design of the Osaka prefecture flag and its stylized three “O”s stemming from a single base.

Likewise, the primary and secondary colors were chosen to be the same blue and white as the main two colors from the prefecture’s flag to directly integrate the design with the city. The Kaiju is also shaped in a similar orientation as the prefecture’s insignia and when combined with the mountain tops of the surrounding region, the insignia mimics that of a Kaiju’s footprint. Finally, to pay homage to Chicago, the tertiary color was chosen to be the Butcher’s red both to to contrast and highlight the blue and white.
To pay homage to the man who helped pioneer the Kaiju genre of cinema, the new stadium was named after Eiji Tsuburaya. Called the “Master of Monsters,” Tsuburaya was a Japanese special effects director, filmmaker, and cinematographer credited with being the co-creator of the Godzilla and Ultraman franchises. The Kaiju immediately moved to their new home named “Tsuburaya Stadium in his honor.
The Kaiju won their first game in Osaka 13-10 vs the Colorado Yeti in the first pre-season game of 2064 (S49) on 31 August, 2064.
They also won their first competitive matchup as the Kaiju vs the Cape Town Crash 32-34 on 28 September, 2064
