SFC Championship Game
In a highly anticipated showdown, the Dallas Birddogs faced off against the Tijuana Luchadores in the SFC Championship Game, aiming to end their three straight consecutive losses in this fixture against their formidable opponents. The tension was palpable as both teams took the field, knowing that a spot in Ultimini XLIV was on the line.
The first quarter unfolded quietly, with the Luchadores striking first with a field goal from Cameron Gold. However, the Birddogs wasted no time responding, orchestrating a strong possession that culminated in a touchdown from Animal Blundetto early in the second quarter.
The momentum swung back and forth as Toller Retriever delivered a standout performance with a pivotal sack resulting in a fumble, only for the Luchadores to capitalise on a turnover of their own, with Pitter Patter scoring a touchdown off an 18-yard throw from Puddles O'Duck.
But just before halftime, Seventh Rounder showcased his playmaking ability once again this season, hauling in a 47-yard catch to put the Birddogs ahead 14-10 heading into the break.
The back-and-forth battle continued in the second half, with both teams trading field goals before Pitter Patter broke away for a 64-yard touchdown, extending the Luchadores' lead. However, the Birddogs refused to back down, chipping away at the deficit with two more field goals from A Bud.
With the clock ticking down, the Birddogs' defense held firm, denying the Luchadores any chance of a comeback. Lane Frost III also made his mark on special teams, racking up 96 yards on three returns.
As the final whistle blew, the Birddogs emerged victorious with a hard-fought 23-20 win, securing their spot in Ultimini XLIV. With momentum on their side and a historical 3-0 record in the Ultimini, the Birddogs now set their sights on facing the London Royals in the ultimate showdown for championship glory.
