History of the Kansas City Coyotes
The Coyotes were founded in 2018 (S3) season as one of the original six franchises of the Developmental Simulation Football League. They were placed in the Eastern Conference alongside the San Antonio Marshals and the Tijuana Luchadores.
2018 Season
The Coyotes started their season on the back foot, losing their first ever in disappointing fashion, losing by 17 to San Antonio. They would bounce back strong in the next game, winning in dominate fashion over the Tijuana Luchadores. After losing in gut-wrenching fashion to Chicago, getting within a field goal to win, the Coyotes would win their next two over the Marshals and Seawolves respectively. The team couldn't keep their momentum going for any longer than two games it seemed because they would flip-flop from winning two games to losing two games for the rest of the season. The would only break that streak by bouncing back against the Portland Pythons after losing to San Antonio. After losing their last two games of the season, they entered the playoffs with a 7-7 record as the runner up to San Antonio, who went 9-5. The Marshals would beat the Coyotes in dominating fashion, holding Kansas City to just nine points on the day. The Coyotes used a pass heavy system this season, showcasing the arm strength and accuracy of Quarterback Shawn Brady, who threw for 3020 yards and 15 touchdowns. These numbers would give the Coyotes the best offense in the division and second in the league behind Norfolk. Running back Jovan Grujicic would pick up 910 yards and 6 touchdowns and Wide Receiver Victor DeMar would pick up 599 yards and 6 Touchdowns.
