Ray Baker (born October 3, 2029) is an American football kicker who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Georgetown University (Georgetown) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Ray Baker attended Lincoln Memorial High School in Washington, D.C. As the placekicker on Memorial's football team, Baker finished his high school kicking career making 15 of 18 attempted kicks, including 9 of 11 as a senior, with a high school career-long of 42 yards. He also converted 122 of 126 extra point kicks in his high school career. Baker was named to the D.C. Football News Class AAA First-team and a Section Two First-team All-Star (as a punter and placekicker). Baker led his team to victory in a 33-30 win against rival school Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial High School in the Ben's Chili Bowl. Coming out of high school, Baker was a three-star college kicking prospect and the #46 kicker nationally as ranked by ESPN.

Baker also played high school table tennis, earning Washington Post's Fall All-Star honors. He is Lincoln Memorial's only two-sport star athlete in school history and their weight room is named after Baker.

Ray Baker is also known as Mr. 35, due to his pinpoint accuracy within 35 yards.

College career

Baker holds the Georgetown Hoyas Football records for most career points (375), most field goals made (55), most extra points (PATs), (212, including 153 consecutive made PATs), tied for the best career kicking percentage (.774), and second-best career PAT percentage (.985).

Baker was redshirted his true freshman season before going on to be the Hoyas primary placekicker for the next four seasons. In 2050, as a true freshman, Baker earned Patriot League All-Academic Team honors.

In 2051, as a redshirt freshman, Baker made 13 of 17 field goal attempts (.765) with a long of 48 yards while recording one tackle. In 2052, as a redshirt sophomore, Baker's .773 kicking percentage placed seventh all-time in Georgetown football history for single season kick percentage. Entering his redshirt junior season in 2053, Baker was named to the Lou Groza Award preseason watch list (best placekicker in college football). In the Hoyas' game versus Providence, Baker set the Georgetown single-game extra points record (10). Baker finished his final season at Georgetown converting 12 of 14 field goal attempts with a long of 46 yards. He ended the season with a 58.3-yard kickoff average, including 29 touchbacks, with two tackles, and a fumble recovery.

DSFL Career

2055

Ray Baker was drafted in the second round of the DSFL Draft by the Kansas City Coyotes. There were a lot of expectations for Baker coming into the season which he struggled to live up to. Baker was solid on the year for extra points, making 37 of 39 attempts for the Coyotes. Where Baker especially struggled was in the 20-29 range (2/4) and 50+ (3/7). It was not unsurprising Ray would not be successful right away from 50+ since he is an accuracy focus kicker but many pundits were shocked at his performance under 30 yards. Baker did not let that trouble him and finished out the season on a high note for Kansas City. After the Kansas City punter went inactive, Baker was called to take on punting duties at the end of the season and tied the season longest punt at 62 yards. Ray's first season in Kansas City did not quite live up to the hype but he continues to keep his head held high and move forward to the next season.

ISFL Career

2056

Ray Baker was drafted in the second round of the ISFL Draft by the Honolulu Hahalua. The Hahalua fans welcomed Ray with open arms and gave him the confidence he needed for his first game against San Jose where he kicked all three field goals and two extra points. In a year where there were two other rookie kickers, Ray led the group in field goals made, field goal percentage, and extra points made. Although Ray could not crack 90% field goal percentage on the year, Ray was a solid force from 39 yards and under, making 23 for 23 kicks. Unfortunately, Ray got a case of the yips in the ASFC Conference Championship game. Ray missed a critical kick from 30-39 yards which arguably shifted momentum towards the Arizona Outlaws who ultimately won the game. Honolulu's season was over and so was Ray Baker's quest for a championship during his rookie year.

2057

During his sophomore season in the ISFL, Ray Baker hit someone of a sophomore slump. He was focused to put in work during leg day and drive that power up but between training and actual games, it turned into a lot of pressure for Ray. He became more confident in his longer field goals, hitting 7/8 from 50+ on the year. But with all this focus on pumping power, Ray lost a little bit of mojo on the accuracy side. He only hit 5/8 from the 40+ range. During the ASFC Conference Championship game, Ray also missed a couple shorter distance field goals. Ray had yet another case of the yips which he also experienced in the same game last season against Arizona. However, Ray is determined to grow from this experience and come back with a better effort. Like it's a Marvel post-credit scene, Ray gave a press conference to the media stating "Steel toe boots coming soon..."

2058

With Steel Toe Boots purchased, Ray Baker took a major leap in his third season in the ISFL. Ray had a career high 89.7% FG percentage and longest field goal made (59 yards) in season 43. Baker proved to be an asset for the Hahalua especially during the last regular season game against Austin. With a playoff spot on the line, down by 2, the Honolulu coaches sent out Ray Baker with 13 seconds left in the game for what would be the longest field goal of his career. With ice in his veins, Baker with his steel toe boots, put the ball through the uprights and sent Honolulu straight into the playoffs with the game winning field goal. Unfortunately, the Hahalua suffered a quick exit in the playoffs, losing to the Arizona Outlaws in the first round. All in all, Ray had an amazing season and something to build on going forward in his career. Ray was also the league leader in total punts, total punt yards, and amount of punts landed within the 20 yard line. Big improvement for Baker compared to his sophomore year.

2059

Ray Baker's season 44 campaign started off in a bit of a struggle. Baker was actually perfect on the year from 0-49 yards but anything past 50 was not guaranteed. Baker went 4/9 in field goals past 50 yards in the regular season. Honolulu still had a fantastic regular season and finished first in the conference. Baker was able to turn his regular season woes around in the playoffs however by setting all kinds of ISFL records. Ray set the postseason record for most field goals made (13) in a postseason. Ray also set the record for most field goals made in an Ultimus (5) and most 50+ yard field goals made in an Ultimus (3). Ray Baker cemented his legacy in the Ultimus and many of his peers called for him to be the Season 45 Ultimus MVP. This isn't even Ray's final form. Ray purchased Bionic Legs in the offseason as he looks to keep the momentum rolling into the next season.

2060

Returning to the field after an Ultimus victory, Ray Baker was determined to keep the positive momentum rolling. Ray's focus during the offseason was to better his efforts on long distance kicks, especially beyond fifty yarders. Ray put a lot of emphasis into kick power which helped him during the season 45 campaign. Because of Honolulu's team success during the season, Ray managed to hit 50 out of 51 extra point attempts on the year which was the ASFC record. Ray also dominated the kicking stats by being the ASFC leader in Field Goals Made and Field Goal Percentage as well. This was a stellar season for Ray Baker as he hit 12 of 13 from 40-49 yards and 6 of 8 from 50 and beyond. Honolulu lead the league in regular season wins and Ray's efforts certainly contributed to that. The Hahalua ultimately fell short in the playoffs but rest assured, Ray will return better than ever.

2061

With maxed out attributes, Ray Baker was very confident heading into season 46. However, early struggles for the Honolulu Hahalua put a damper on the whole team, including Ray. The preseason favorite Hahalua would start the season 0-5 and drastic changes were made to the roster. Ray's S41 cohorts, Billy Jor-El and Liath Squirrel, were shipped off to other franchises in a fire sale. But Ray remained. Ray did get into a verbal altercation with GMs IceBear and MMFLEX. Ray was upset that he wasn't being sent out to kick long field goals. Instead, he was being asked to punt in this situations. It was clear that Honolulu was tanking and it hurt Baker's morale and opportunities on the field. Ray is a company man, however. He put more emphasis on punting and became the season leader in average yards per punt. Although Ray would like to be known for his field goals and extra points made, Ray has come to terms that he will be a punt god for the foreseeable future.
