Owen Farrell (born July 1, 2026) was an American football quarterback for the San Jose Sabercats.

Early years

Owen Farrell was born into rugby royalty his Grandfather Andy had been an adequate rugby league player and represented his country in both codes of the sport. His crowning achievement was though came from leading the Irish national union side to their first ever world cup final appearance in the 2023 world cup. His father, also Owen Farrell, was a well renowned England rugby union star earning over 100 caps for his company including a World Cup final appearance.

Farrell received his name from his dad who was quoted as saying ""Just call him Owen, I'll forget anything else"". He was a gifted athlete from early on in his life excelling at Association Football, both codes of rugby and basketball, representing his county for all of these growing up. Whilst he performed well he never felt any real affinity for any of the sports but followed in his fathers footsteps signing up for the Saracens rugby academy. This didn't grip him at all and he instead looked further afield at an international athletic scholarship in Texas Tech university.

College career

Farrell turned up at Texas Tech to take part in the athletics program and to help take their rugby program to the next level. Seeing a post for football tryouts Farrell walked onto the field to try out at the most difficult postion on the field as he felt as though the position would tranlate closely from the position he played in rugby - flyhalf. Farrell didn't see any game time in his first 2 years at Texas Tech. Instead he filled in as QB of the practice squad learning the ins and outs of the position. Shown to be a quick study he picked up the playbook very quickly, mid way through his second year he was helping out with playcalling and only his core fundamentals were holding him back from taking the starting job. He finally got the chance to start in his 3rd year and looked promising. Whilst he had the head for the position he still hadn't quite found the technique to unleash his full potential. This resulted in Farrell declaring for the DSFL to try and develop into a more complete player before making the leap to the big leagues.

S33

Owen Farrell declared for the S34 DSFL entry draft with the hope to be noticed and picked up for the S35 ISFL draft. However before the draft took place Farrell was able to take practice reps through in Dallas where he was picked up on Waivers to backup starting QB Christian Marciano.

With Dallas out of the running for the playoffs Farrell was given some well earned game time, starting in the final game of the season to take on the London Royals at home. Farrell didn't exactly light up the show in this game but he also didn't lose the team the game. He put up a distinctly average stat line true to his game manager style. He finished the game with 0 interceptions but 0 touchdowns as well. At the end of the game the coaches were overheard telling Farrell this would be his last game in the blue and yellow as they would not be drafting a Marciano replacement this season.

S34

Owen Farrell went into the S34 draft fairly certain he was going to one of two teams as the rest were fairly set at the Quarterback position, but getting his name called in the first round was certainly a large shock. With Minnesota being a fairly cold and wet place Farrell felt well at home as soon as he turned up. Season 34 actually ended up being a rather successful one for Farrell, avoiding the usual rookie mistakes and throwing a bunch of picks, his GMs gameplanned to ease him into the role, relying heavily on RB Bartok during the early season. Farrell really arrived in the DSFL in the 5th game of the season after Minnesota limped to a 1-3 start. Game 5 saw the Tijuana Luchadores visit the ducks and Farrell put on a complete masterclass. Throwing 27 times for 18 receptions, the young QB was extremely efficient, throwing his receivers open. This lead to him wracking up 339 passing yards, 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. This fantastic stat line lead to an extremely impressive 149.3 QB rating and really kicked off the Greyducks push for playoffs. The team went on to win 7 of the following 9 games and forced their way into the 1 seed of the North. Following a timely bust and lengthy ban of a number of Coyotes for steroid abuse the Greyducks easily polished off Kansas City in the divisional game and went on to take on the struggling Dallas Birddogs in the Ultimini. This game was not so successful for Farrell, throwing just 1 touchdown, unfortunately the defence just couldnt find a way to stop the high flying Marciano on the day.

S35

Owen Farrell completed his second full year playing for the Minnesota Greyducks in S35 but was hampered by nagging injuries throughout the season. The greyducks were in a hangover after reaching the Ultimini the previous year, with coaches aging out and players being called up to the ISFL there was rather a large amount of brain drain. This resulted in the Greyducks dragging their feet to a disappointing 4-10 record.

Farrell himself didn't actively hurt the team however he didn't ever manage to put the team on his back like most of the other QBs in the league did for at least one or two games. He was the definition of a boring player this season - middle of the pack on every measurable QB stat outside of longest pass which he lead the league in with a whopping 91 yarder.

He finished the season riding the pine as the Greyducks got knocked out of contention they decided to blood 3 Waiver wire QBs to see if any of them could be the next in line in Minnesota.

S36

Season 36 opened with quite possibly Owen Farrells worst ever performance in Greyducks colours. Playing the Pythons in Portland the GMs decided on a fast tempo game to kick off the season. Its fair to say this wasn't Farrells Cup of tea. Whilst he did throw for just shy of 300 yards he managed to throw for 0TDs and an astounding 6 interceptions. With this shock out of his system Farrell hit back with a vengeance. The next 3 games thes coaches cracked the game plan. Farrell threw for a total of 826 yards, 11 TDs 0 interceptions across this period and earned himself the inaugural Offensive player of the week.

This turned out to be the highlight of the season for Farrell. He, alongside the rest of his team, struggled to find a run of form after that, at one point going on a 5 game losing streak and missing out on playoffs. Farrell ended the season having had the most attempts and touch downs of his career so far as well as the most interceptions. Farrell will be disappointed to have not been able to bring any silverware to Minnesota in his time there, however he will be looking onwards to Bigger things as he takes over the reigns in San Jose. A revamped logo to go with a revamped offense.

S37

Season 37 saw Owen Farrell taking his game to the big leagues and getting a great start quarterbacking for the San Jose Sabercats. Taking over from Quarterback Panda McKyle Farrell had some big shoes to fill. And in his first game those shoes were much too large. Farrell opened up against a decent OCO defense and was proven to be very cagey. Whilst he did open the scoring with a dart to Blondin he ended up throwing 3 picks to the otters helping them take a first game lead.

His first win in the green and gold came week 3 against New York where he threw for 2 TDs and had a 119 QBR.

Although Farrell had a couple of big 4TD games his best all around performance came in week 10 against the Philadelphia Liberty leading the team to a 29-17 win. Throwing 3TDs, 0 interceptions and a 136.2 QBR.

Overall the team slumped to a 6-10 record but Farrell will be proud of his first season in the league.

S38

S38 was a coming of age year for the sophomore out of Minnesota.

Farrells team the Sabercats started the season in poor form and looked like the could, once again, become the whipping boys of the division. 6 weeks in they were at 2-4 with long odds at making playoffs.

From week 7 San Jose would lose just 2 more games, including a 7 game win streak from week 9 where Farrell would put the team on his back and slingshot them back into playoff contention finishing the season with 10 wins 4 losses. Farrell managed to set a career high in passing touchdowns actually breaking San Jose's individual season record with a league leading 42.

On top of this Farrell was in the running for MVP but was unfortunately pipped to the post by Arizona QB Wendell Sailor. He got the condolence prize of offensive player of the year and made 2nd team all pro, again behind the aforementioned Sailor.

S39

The 39th season of the ISFL was a comeback down to earth after Owen Farrell's career year in S38. It wasn't the worst season but he didn't keep up with the franchise leading TD rate of the previous season.

Farrell was once again nominated as captain, and unfortunately didn't lead the team to the sort of success he was hoping to reach. The most notable difference in the offense was a lack of his favourite S38 target - Blondin who moved to Arizona in the off season. Farrell would make do with his current targets leading the team to a disappointing 7-9.

Farrell's game of the season came in Week 8 where he managed to throw for 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions resulting in a 39-17 final score against the Berlin Fire Salamanders. The rest of the season he struggled to get past 2 touchdowns and threw more touchdowns than he would have hoped.

S40

During the 40th season of the ISFL Owen Farrell once again had a particularly poor year. Whilst he broke his record for number of attempts and number of completions (whilst seeing a decent completion percentage) the on field performance wasn't ever going to go down in history books. With the Sabercats losing a number of big names miss season in Deandre King & Deshawn Penne - 2 players who were Farrell's favourite targets, the season was looking ready to fall off a cliff. Fortunately midway through the season Sconnie McSix was signed coming into his prime this off-season.

San Jose finished in 5th, so we will take a look at some of the key games from the season. Sadly the high of the season probably came in San Jose's 3rd game, at home to Arizona. The team shocked AZ with a 29-22 victory with Farrell notching up 3 TDs. He struggled the rest of the season, even grabbing only one TD in a complete dismantle of NYS

S41

The 41st season of the ISFL saw Owen Farrell reach his prime age with his 8th full season of playing senior football and his 5th in the ISFL. The season was certainly a frustrating one for Californian outfit, with them never managing to string together any sort of consistency week on week. They were in the playoff hunt early doors and hit 6-5 in week 11. Unfortunately after this point the team went on to lose 4/5 of their last games finishing in the 5th spot in the division. Farrell himself had a pretty mediocre season as far as his standards are concerned, although one huge boon was the fact he threw the fewest number of interceptions of his career at 10. His one massive game came week 11 against the tanking Second Line, where his 5TD 0Int performance got him a nomination for Performance of the Year in the end of season awards.

S42

Where to start on S42 for Owen Farrell? Another disappointing season, at a high level the season was one to forget with Farrell amassing the lowest number of touchdowns in his twighlighting career. Even with a disappointing season Farrell still had a personal achievement to celebrate. He overtook both Monterey Jack & Panda Mckyle in career TDs for the green and gold. After contemplating a career change in the off-season Farrell has decided to pull on the Sabercats team kit for another season looking to hopefully put himself ahead of his two predecessors in yardage whilst staying behind them in interceptions.

Anyway, San Jose fell to a poor 6-10 finish coming 5th in the division. Farrell had barely any standout performances but we'll see what we can find. Farrell managed to own the Orange County Otters this season, putting together two performances with a combined 6-1 TD to interception ratio and 74 points.

S43

During the off-season for S43 Owen Farrell was called into the GMs room and informed the upcoming season would be his last. If he wanted to continue playing for this team he would need to bulk up and move forward to protect the young upstart moving into the big leagues in S44. So with that, Farrell went into the season looking to solidify a few of his Franchise records. Here are some of his career stats: He finished his QB run 2nd in passing yards for San Jose breaking 30,000 total in his final game only the 2nd to do so for San Jose after Monty Jack. He broke 200 TD this season finishing his career on 209 whilst staying behind Monty Jack in interceptions. He unfortunately fell behind Panda Mckyle for passer rating this last season but did finish with the most completions. S37, 38 & 39 ended as San Jose's top 3 TD seasons. The season itself went okay, finishing 6-10 and second from bottom of the division.
