Ultimus Bowl II was an American football game played to determine the champion of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL) for 2016 (S1). The American Simulation Football Conference (ASFC) champion Arizona Outlaws defeated the National Simulation Football Conference (NSFC) champion Baltimore Hawks, 33-6, to win their second consecutive Ultimus. The game was played at Outlaw Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona.

Background

Teams

The NSFC was represented by the Baltimore Hawks, while the ASFC was represented by their second seed Arizona Outlaws. Baltimore was making its first appearance in the Ultimus Bowl, while Arizona appeared as defending champions after defeating the Colorado Yeti in the inaugural Ultimus Bowl.

Baltimore Hawks

The Baltimore Hawks missed the 2016 playoffs with a 4-10-0 record, behind the Colorado Yeti and Yellowknife Wraiths in the NSFC. The Hawks improved dramatically in 2017, with an 8-6-0 record to take the first seed in the NSFC playoffs. Baltimore actually finished the season in a three-way tie with the Yeti and Wraiths at 8-6, but the Yeti were left out of the postseason via tiebreaker, while the Hawks hosted the Wraiths in the NSFC Championship. Darlane Farlane was named the league's top runningback, while Turk Turkleton was named Kicker of the Year and Erasmo Broadway split the Linebacker of the Year trophy with Arizona's Harrif Ernston.

Following Week 11, Baltimore tight end Carmel Gibson was suspended for a violation of the NSFL's performance enhancement policy. During Baltimore's last three regular season games following this suspension, the team went 1-2.

Arizona Outlaws

Coming off the inaugural Ultimus Bowl championship in 2016, the Outlaws were even better one season later. Arizona led the league in points scored and points allowed, were undefeated at home, and were the only team in the league with a winning record on the road (5-2-0) en route to a 12-2-0 regular season. Jayce Tuck won his second consecutive Defensive Lineman of the Year award, while Tim Pest won the Offensive Lineman of the Year honor.
