Teams

The NSFC was represented by the Baltimore Hawks, while the ASFC was represented by theArizona Outlaws. This Ultimus was a rematch of the previous year's, where Arizona defeated Baltimore 33-6.

Baltimore Hawks

After falling to the Outlaws in last year's Ultimus, The Baltimore Hawks would make it to the 2018 (S3) Ultimus, this time with a 9-5-0 record, which gave them the first seed in the NSFC.

Arizona Outlaws

After winning the Ultimus two years in a row, the Outlaws again was the undisputed best team in the league. Arizona led the league in points scored, points allowed, went undefeated on the road, and posted the best regular season record at 13-1. Their lone loss had come from the Baltimore Hawks at home in week 12, where Hawks kicker Turk Turkleton scored 14 points, including the game-winner in overtime. Reg Mackworthy was named Running Back of the Year, Tim Pest was named Offensive Lineman of the Year for the second year in a row, Jayce Tuck won his third consecutive Defensive Lineman of the Year award, Franklin Harris Jr. won Defensive Back of the Year, and Cristiano Ronaldo was named Punter of the Year.

Playoffs

In the NSFC Championship, Baltimore defeated the Philadelphia Liberty 3-34 to advance to Ultimus Bowl III. Philadelphia's only score was a 40 yard field goal by Stephen Harris in the second quarter.

The Arizona Outlaws defeated the Orange County Otters 7-27 in the ASFC Championship. Like the Liberty in the NSFC Championship, the Otters were only able to score on one play, this one being a touchdown pass from Mike Boss to Bradley Westfield, plus the extra point conversion by Al Sims early in the fourth quarter.

Game summary

First Quarter

The Arizona defense quickly shut down the Hawks offense, sacking Baltimore quarterback Scrub Kyubee 4 times in the first quarter. Reg Mackworthy would score the first points of the game with an 18 yard rushing touchdown. The Hawks would respond with a 38 yard field goal to make the game 7-3. Baltimore's defense was able to stop the Outlaws the following drive, providing them with a perfect opportunity to take the lead after an encroachment penalty on the Outlaws was able to counteract a sack taken by Kyubee. Then, Franklin Harris Jr. intercepted a pass intended for Sunnycursed, which was returned for a touchdown. The Outlaws led the first quarter, 14-3.

Second Quarter

The Hawks regained possession at the start of the second thanks to a big stop to the Outlaws drive at the end of the first. Like with their first scoring drive, Baltimore was unable to reach the end zone and settle for a 42 yard field goal. Defense would dominate this quarter, with 6 drives ending with 3 and outs, and another with a turnover on downs. Kyubee was sacked 6 times, and Outlaws quarterback King Bronko was sacked twice. Another pick 6 near the end of the first half, this one by Allen Davis, would put the Outlaws up 21-6 going into the third.

Third Quarter

Only one scoring drive occurred in the third, this one being a 1 yard throw to Outlaws receiver Charles Arthur Chess. Unlike the previous quarters, Bronko would get sacked the most this quarter, being sacked twice. Kyubee would only be sacked once. Eleven 3 and outs and another interception by Franklin Harris Jr. would end the quarter at 28-6.

Fourth Quarter

The fourth quarter would start with yet another interception thrown by Kyubee, which set up a scoring drive by the Outlaws, this one a 15 yard throw to Charlie Law. The next Outlaws drive would again result in a touchdown to Charles Chess. Kyubee would yet again throw an interception, which led to a third Charlie Chess touchdown. Despite the game being all but lost, Stormblessed returned a kickoff 89 yards to give the Hawks their first redzone possession in the game. Darlane Farlane scored the Hawks only touchdown in this game, however kicker Turk Turkleton would miss the extra point. The Outlaws would win, 49-12.
