Trent Thigpen (born March 22, 2035) is an American football defensive tackle who was just drafted by the Austin Copperheads in the first round of the S44 ISFL Draft. He played college football for University of Wisconsin–Madison (Wisconsin) and subsequently played in the DSFL for the Tijuana Luchadores in S43 after being drafted by Tijuana in the first round of the S43 DSFL Draft.

Early years

Trent Thigpen was born on March 22, 2035, in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, to parents Bonnie the Barbie Barbarian, a world famous female wrestler, and John Thigpen, a volunteer firefighter. Trent has four older sisters who followed in their mother's footsteps and spent his entire childhood ganging up on him as the only boy. Trent played ice hockey from age four to 13 and played for travel or competitive teams that traveled to Canada and Germany. He gave up hockey when his mother got in a fight in the stands with some parents from the other team. Trent also played football throughout his childhood and became passionate about the sport while he was in his mother's womb.

Trent attended Central Catholic High School, where he was a four-year letter-winner in football and also lettered in basketball, baseball, and track and field. He earned the Woodland Mega Super Conference Player of the Year Award his senior year, and first-team All-State, All-County, All-Area, and All-Conference selections as tight end and defensive tackle. He was also named the team's MVP after having five separate performances with multiple turnovers and multiple touchdowns in the same game. During his senior year, Trent accumulated a total of 699 receiving yards, 36 catches, and 15 touchdowns on offense. On defense, he racked up 69 tackles, 6 fumble recoveries, 9 forced fumbles, 12 sacks, and 4 interceptions.

Trent followed in his father's footsteps and competed in the shot put during his senior season, earning first-team All-state selection. He captured the state title in the shot put at the 2053 WIAA Division II Championship, setting a new school record with a throw of 69 ft, 11.5 in.

College career

At the University of Wisconsin, Trent redshirted the 2054 season and was named Wisconsin's Scout Team Player of the Year. In 2055, he played in 13 games as a defensive end. In a game against Hawaii on December 5, 2055, Trent had a career-high of two sacks, three tackles for loss, six tackles, and one quarterback hurry. Trent finished the season with 32 solo tackles, 12 assisted tackles, four and a half sacks, 15.5 tackles for loss, and five passes defended. He also earned his first letter. On November 20, 2056, against Michigan, he recorded his first collegiate interception. Overall, in the 2056 season, Trent played in 13 games and led the team in tackles for loss, quarterback hurries, blocked kicks, and forced fumbles. He finished the season with 42 solo tackles, 20 assisted tackles, 21 tackles for loss, seven sacks, one interception for 15 yards, nine passes defended, and three fumbles forced. He earned the Ronnie Lott Trophy in 2056, voted AP and Sports Illustrated second-team All-American, All-Big Ten first-team, academic All-Big Ten, and was voted the team's MVP.

2058 DSFL Season

Trent Thigpen was drafted in the first round of the S43 DSFL draft with the 6th overall pick by the Tijuana Luchadores. As a rookie, Thigpen was elected as a team captain and made an immediate impact on and off the field. Thigpen had a strong rookie season in Tijuana as a DT playing from the starting RE position for most snaps and ending the year with 34 tackles and 5 sacks. The strong Tijuana defense complemented one of the most dynamic offenses in the DSFL, and Thigpen’s team had a strong year on their way to an 18th franchise Ultimini appearance. While it ended in a disappointing loss, Thigpen looks forward to returning to Tijuana in season 44 for another run at the Ultimini. After that, his future lies in Austin with the Copperheads. As Thigpen’s impressive rookie year caught the attention of many ISFL teams, Austin went ahead and traded a third round pick along with their 6th overall pick in the first round to jump the Orange County Otters and take Thigpen with the fourth overall pick. Certainly an exciting start to a young career.

2059 DSFL Season

After drafting Thigpen, Austin came to him and spoke to him about a positional change. Now since he had a stellar year as a DT for Tijuana you might be thinking they just wanted to switch him to DE or perhaps even LB if they really believe in his athletic ability, but instead they switched him to CB. DT to CB you might be thinking? Well Trent Thigpen proved it's possible as he became Tijuana's CB1 after Austin sent him down to the DSFL for a developmental year in his new position. He showed out, ending the regular season tied for most interceptions by any player with 5. He racked up another 3 FF and a FR to tie for most forced turnovers of any defender in the DSFL, ended third in tackles amongst CBs, and fourth amongst all players in PDs. By all accounts he had a fantastic statistical year in his new position, but more importantly he helped his team win games. After a strong S43, Tijuana came up just short losing the Ultimini to Portland. They came back with a vengeance in S44, with a strong rookie class that bolstered an already stacked roster, leading Tijuana to a season filled with blowout wins and dominant performances on both sides of the ball. Ending the season with an average of 30.9 points per game for and only 15.6 points against, they practically doubled their opponents score every game and scored nearly 100 more points than the next highest scoring team in the league the Pythons. Most importantly, they capped the season off with an Ultimini victory in a rematch against Portland. A fantastic season for both Trent and the Luchadores; now Thigpen looks forward to his rookie season in the ISFL come S45.

2060 ISFL Season

After a year of training in the DSFL as a CB, 2060 was finally Trent's year to show up to the big show and prove he belonged. While he had high hopes coming in to training camp, his coaches calmed his expectations as two corners still were above him on the depth chart and he'd only be serving a role as a backup safety and depth corner. Still, he was excited for his opportunity to show he had the potential to be their future shutdown starting corner, and he wanted to start it off by getting his first interception this season (hopefully more after that, but he promised himself one). Unfortunately he quickly learned the ISFL QBs were on another level compared to the developmental league he was just playing in, as he struggled to make as much of an impact in the pass game as he did in his first year as a corner for Tijuana. On the flip side, he proved his athleticism in the blitz, racking up 4 sacks and nearly matching his sack count as a DT in his rookie DSFL year. Entering the final game of the regular season he still had no interceptions and felt like he had failed to make any splash or impact to really make a name for himself as a Copperhead. However his opportunity finally came in the last game of the season when he anticipated a curl route, jumped it before the receiver and was able to take the ball all the way to a house for a touchdown helping lead his team to a 34-31 win in an important came to go to 9-7 and earn their playoff entrance. The magic kept coming for the team and that same score repeated itself in the championship as the Copperheads went on to win the S45 Ultimus 34-31 over the Sarasota Sailfish marking the perfect finish for now two back to back championship seasons for Thigpen as a player, his highest career goal for himself he ever set out to reach as a player.

2061 ISFL Season

Coming into his sophomore season, Trent had high aspirations. Stepping into the CB1 role for the defending Ultimus champions was a tall task, and he wanted to prove he was up to it. While he struggled some early, Trent really grew into the role as the season progressed and his season stats show just how successful he ultimately was in the end. Finishing the season with 94 tackles, he had the second most tackles of any Copperhead defender and only 6 cornerbacks across the ISFL managed to rack up more tackles. Though, you may be thinking to yourself, is it really a good thing if a corner has a lot of tackles, doesn't that mean he gave up a lot of catches? While that can be true, it is also important to note that Trent had 26 pass defenses this season. That's nearly triple his rookie season number, and put him at 11th amongst all defenders. Certainly not a bad season for the young defender, as he primes himself for what he hopes to be his breakout season as a star corner in the league in his third year.
