Stetson David (born August 27, 1912) is an American football running back for the Honolulu Hahalua of the International Simulation Football League (ISFL).

Early years

Stetson was born to a loving sports couple in Calgary. His whole family and all his uncles, aunts and cousins were high skill athletes. From hockey to soccer to curling, everyone found some sort of sporting success. But for all that success, no one had ever played high level football. So Stetson decided to go on his own path and change all that. He set records everywhere he went, from peewee all the way to high school, Stetson was one of the best out there. With not many scouts coming up to Canada, Stetson didn't recieve the high end scholarship offers some players get. And he was ok with that. He lead his high school to a championship season in his final year and was labeled a can't miss prospect, but he was going to have to prove that on a smaller stage in Canada. With only 2 major offers, he decided to stay in Alberta and play at the U of A

College career

Starting from day one at wide reciever, Stetson was miles ahead of his peers and competitors. While his team struggled to a 5-7 record, Stetson was amazing catching 78 passes for 1655 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also returned 11 kickoffs for 345 yards and a touchdown. Year two had more promise as the Golden Bears won 7 and lost 5 and qualified for the playoffs for the first time in 26 seasons. They ended up losing to Calgary in the Canada West Final though, even though our star had 9 catches for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns. The regular season was much more productive too as he caught 81 passes for 1900 yards and 15 touchdowns. All Alberta records. In his third and ultimately final season, Stetson led the team to a 9-3 record, catching 90 passes for 2010 yards and 21 touchdowns, this time smashing Canadian University records in all 3 categories. They were set for a Canada West rematch with Calgary and triumphed 31-19 with Steson going 6-144-2. He was named the MVP of the game. Feeling he had accomplished all he could, he declared himself eligible for the DSFL draft

DSFL career

Stetson was claimed on waivers by the Kansas City Coyotes late in the S40 season and made a brief stint before the season ended. Appearing in 4 games, he caught 10 passes for 84 yards. The Coyotes struggled that year and after the season, Stetson thought there may be a chance to return in the DSFL draft.

Instead he was selected by the Norfolk Seawolves in the 3rd round of the DSFL draft. He played most of the season as their main option at wide receiver and excelled. For much of the year he led the DSFL in catches and yards, only relinquishing the yardage lead in the final 2 weeks. Unfortunately the Seawolves struggled in the second half of the season and narrowly missed the playoffs with a very young team. With the ISFL draft in his sights, Stetson was also focused on returning to the Seawolves to make a legit run at a Ultimini championship in his second full DSFL season. Stetson finished the season with 94 catches for 1367 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Season 42 was a year to behold for Stetson David and the Norfolk Seawolves. Heading into the ISFL draft, there were reports, Stetson could go anywhere from 5th overall to 25th. Most of the hype died down on draft day and the first round came and went with no team calling Stetson's name. He did keep his spirits up as his best interview came with the Honolulu Hahalua and they picked early in the 2nd round. Not to be disappointed, the Hahalua grabbed Stetson 17th overall. Both team and player were thrilled with the turn of events. The plan right off the bat was to head back to Norfolk to improve for another year and maybe win a title in the DSFL.

Armed with strong returning veterans on both sides of the ball and a hotshot new quarterback and receiver, hopes were sky high in Norfolk. The start of the season was a bit rocky as the Seawolves lost their 2nd game of the year to Tijuana, a club they knew they'd need to get past to amount to anything. Even though a new rookie WR had joined the club and thoughts were that Stetson's numbers may fall off, Tyler Hunt's arrival only took pressure off David and new QB Maximus Boudreaux was able to find quick chemistry with both. The wins and yards and touchdowns continued to pile up and soon whispers of records and awards were happening. Norfolk ended the season red hot, and Stetson did as well. He ended the year with 85 catches for 1480 yards and a DSFL record 16 touchdowns! He ended up 4th in total scoring as well. Once the playoffs hit, the rematch with Tijuana was in place, Stetson caught 5 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown as Norfolk ran away with a 38-19 win. The Ultimini championship saw the Seawolves take on the Minnesota Grey Ducks. Pundits had Norfolk as the heavy favourite leading up to the game, but ended up in for a surprise. A slow start and hungry Ducks team helped Minnesota get out to a fast 17-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. A late TD got Norfolk on the board and into the half only down 10. The Seawolves cranked things up in the 3rd and 4th quarters, shutting out Minnesota an rambling off 17 2nd half points. Stetson caught the game winning 48 touchdown with 7 minutes left in the game to clinch the championship!. It was a great performance and all of Norfolk partied hard for weeks.

After the party died down, the DSFL awards were held in a 7-11 parking lot in a shady suburb of Winnipeg. The Seawolves were well rewarded for their success, with Stetson leading the way. In close votes, Stetson David won the Most Outstanding Player Award, which is chosen by the players and the Most Valuable Player, chosen by the GMs and Staff. It was all in all a memorable season.

ISFL career

Season 43 was the beginning of Stetson David's journey into the ISFL. As a rookie on the Honolulu Hahalua, his hopes were to be a good teammate and help out wherever he was able to. Hopes were high in Honolulu for a stellar regular season and a long playoff run. Unfortunately neither of those was the case. A rough start had the Hahalua at 2-6 halfway thru the season and the locker room in chaos. The club had a player led meeting and resolved to turn things around no matter what. And they did exactly that. Rattling off a 6-2 record in the second half and clinching a playoff spot as well. The playoffs ended in a first round exit without much noise made by Stetson. He did manage to have a respectable first campaign with 69 catches (nice) 585 yards and 3 touchdowns, along with 47 sacks. He mainly played as a Tight End due to roster constraints. After the season, the plan was made to use Stetson's speed in a better spot and have him take reps at Running Back to see if that may help the club long term.

Season 44 was a rough start for Stetson and the Hahalua, they stumbled out of the gate and with all the new offensive pieces they didn't look like the gelled offensive unit they could be. But as things rolled along, they all picked up steam. David made the most of his opportunities in a RBBC role, helping rest the legs of Bean Delphine Jr while making his own mark on the ISFL. He embraced the move to running back and found pay dirt 7 times on the ground. His contribution the passing game couldn't be overlooked either as he was solid when called upon as well. The Hahalua rolled thru the end of the regular season and ended up as the number 1 seed at 12-4. A thrilling comeback 19-16 win over New York sent Honolulu to the ISFL Ultimus. A slow start had Honolulu chasing early in the final, but 14 unanswered 4th quarter points proved to be enough for a 43-36 Ultimus Championship. The first of hopefully many for Stetson and his group.

Season 45 was a bit of a role reversal for the Hahalua backfield. Bean Delphine Jr was starting to get more miles on those powerful legs, so Stetson took a small lead in the backfield. It worked like a charm for both, as both Bean and Stetson had very efficient seasons and helped a good Honolulu offense to an 11-5 record and first place in the ISFL. Stetson ran for 867 yards and caught another 750 yards. He also ran for 8 touchdowns and caught 5 passes for touchdowns. Both his yards per carry and yards per catch took boosts as well. 4.4 to 4.8 yards per carry and 9.4 to 11 yards per catch. It looked to be another big season, but the Hahalua ran into a super hot Austin offense and couldn't keep up in a 42-35 loss in the conference finals. After winning the Ultimus the season before, it was a very tough pill to swallow. Bean was hit even harder by age and regression, leaving S46 to be Stetson's offense to fully lead

Season 46 did not go according to plan in the tiniest bit. Following back to back fairly successful seasons, the Hahalua looked like they were well equipped to take another shot at the Ultimus. But a fast 0-5 start brought those ideas to a halt and instead Honolulu went full rebuild and traded much of the team. Stetson was one of the few holdovers and did his very best to make games interesting. But a weak offensive line and little passing game at times, meant that defenses could easily focus on stopping him. Along with trailing often and needing to pass to catch up, David's carries weren't as plentiful as he'd have hoped. He also only ran for a paltry 2 touchdowns and 4 thru the air. A 2-14 season is hopefully rock bottom for the Hahalua. They did add several top new prospects to the club to help make the rebuild as fast and painless as possible
