LaDamien Beck (born October 8, 2002) was an American football safety. He played college football for University of Zurich (UZH).

Early years

LaDamien Beck was born in Buchs, Switzerland, on August 10th, 2003. He is the younger brother of SHL player Marcel Beck. He is a naturally gifted runner and has excellent cognition. While the entire Beck family is into hockey, LaDamien did not feel that was his calling. While watching TV one day, he flipped on an American Football game. From that moment on, he was hooked. He would strength train with his brother, but his interests lied elsewhere. Like his brother, LaDamien has a penchant for defense. He picked the Safety position because of its underappreciated value. Knowing that his ultimate goal was to join the ISFL, Beck focused most of his childhood on honing his skills. He joined some local leagues, but the competition was just not at the level that he would have wanted. He decided that going to college was his best bet at making the big leagues.

While living in Switzerland, Beck was a local advocate and volunteer for the local animal shelter. On occasions, he would bring puppies to practice.

College career

Knowing that college was his best opportunity to make the big leagues of the ISFL, LaDamien Beck enrolled at the University of Zurich in Zurich, Switzerland. While not the traditional "football" school that one might imagine, they have a very competitive club team. LaDamien was able to play against some of the best players in Europe during his two years in college. Both years were played on scholarship.

After two years, he decided to throw his name in the ring in North America. During his college carrer, Beck was a standout safety that covered the field with deft speed. He had multiple interceptions and was a leader on his team in total tackles. He ended up being a team captain during his sophmore year, an achievement not given in the past 30 years at the University of Zurich. His teammates voted him one of their favorite locker room presences. He is looking forward to the opportunity in the DSFL and ISFL and his college career was the first stepping stone.

S38

This season equated to the last season Beck would see before regression set in. Beginning to season once again as inactive, Beck was held to a third string role for the Fire Salamanders. Beck only started five games in the S38 season, five less than his previous season. While it was a relatively unremarkable season for Beck, the most noteworthy change to his profile is that he returned from inactivity. With three games left in the season, user By-Tor logged his first activity check in almost a whole calendar year, rendering Beck active once again. While still holding down the backup linebacker role, Beck was on the bench most of the time due to his lower relative skill level. Even though he was not a regular contributor, Beck seemed to serve as Berlin's lucky charm as Berlin was able to win every game since he returned to activity. Berlin surpassed all expectations by landing a spot in the Ultimus, eventually losing to Arizona.

S39

In his first season after regression, Beck took a small step back in his role as a third string. With TPE dwindling, his on-field contributions were minimal, with only 25 tackles on the season. The Fire Salamanders did take a big step back this season as well, being one of the worst teams in the league. In his contract year, Beck was able to play solidly enough that he earned another contract with Berlin to come back in S40. While Beck understands he is in a very background role, he has enough drive to stave off inactivity and eventual retirement. There is still a fire to play in him and make money.

Beck was not able to add any interceptions to his career numbers in S39, but he was able to add one sack, bringing his total up to 15 in 112 career games. In his aging frame, his utility is neutral - maybe he can't make big plays, but he tries not to give them up either. Retirement is looming, but he will play again.
