Tayshawn Crunk (born May 5, 2018) is an American football safety who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Crunk was born in Natchez, Mississippi on May 5, 2018, the oldest of four brothers to parents "Lil" Jon and Nicole Crunk. He attended Natchez High School where he was a four-year starter on the Bulldogs football team. Initially a two-way player, he played safety and wide receiver while also returning kicks.

After switching to safety full-time in his senior year, Crunk recorded 73 tackles, 9 interceptions and 14 pass deflections, anchoring a Bulldogs defense that carried the team to the Mississippi State Championship game. Despite Crunk recording 2 interceptions in the game, the Bulldogs lost 6-3 to the Wayne County War Eagles led by future ISFL prospect L'Gazzy Burfict.

Crunk was rated by Scout.com as a five star recruit and was ranked among the top ten overall recruits in his class, and the number one defensive player in the state of Mississippi. After initially committing to the University of Alabama, he switched his commitment to Clemson University on National Signing Day 2036.

College career

Crunk graduated from Natchez High School early, attending 2036 spring practice at Clemson. Despite this, he would never play for the Tigers, after being suspended from the team following an incident with a stolen laptop. Despite the Pickens County Sheriff's Office stating that charges against Crunk had been dropped, Clemson University announced that his scholarship was being revoked and he would be leaving the program.

For the 2037 season, Crunk joined the Independence Community College football program, citing a lack of Division 1 interest in him. He adapted quickly to the Junior College game, recording 66 tackles, 10 interceptions and 17 pass deflections in a season that saw him lead the Pirates to a NJCAA National Championship. This season was chronicled in the popular docuseries Final Warning College, with Crunk being one of the athletes heavily featured in the show.

Prior to the 2038 season, Crunk announced that he would be transferring to the University of Mississippi. In his only season with the Rebels, Crunk recorded 55 tackles, 10 interceptions and 20 pass deflections, and returned two punts and a kickoff for touchdowns.

On February 2, 2039, Crunk declared for the Season 24 DSFL draft, signifying his intention to become a Season 25 rookie in the ISFL.

DSFL Career

Season 24

Crunk was selected by the London Royals with the 13th overall pick of the Season 24 DSFL Draft. He was reportedly the target of a lucrative trade bid from another team immediately following his selection, but the Royals chose to stick with him.

He replaced outgoing Royals free safety Greedy Sly in the defense immediately as he started from Week 1.

Crunk had a slow transition to the professional game, recording only 6 tackles in the first three games of the season. He notched 5 tackles in the Royals' 31-0 rout of the Dallas Birddogs in Week 4, registering his most meaningful play of the season as he sacked the Birddogs' quarterback. Though this sack was in garbage time, it would prove to be the turning point for his season.

From here, Crunk began to put up better performances on the field, and it showed on the stat sheet. He recorded his first interception of the season in the Royals' Week 7 game at the Kansas City Coyotes, a 26-23 loss that left London with a 3-4 record.

Crunk recorded 4 more interceptions in the last 7 games of the season, including one in week 11 where he picked off Dallas Birddogs quarterback Mattathias Caliban and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown.
