Matt "Pretty Good" Krause (born August 11, 1996) is an American football cornerback for the San Jose Sabercats of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL).

Early years
"A native of Dayton, Ohio, Krause attended Centerville High School where he was a standout two sport star. Krause was a standout pitcher for the baseball team and cornerback for the dominate football team that had current and former NFL players A.J. Hawk and Mike Nuggent. Krause decided to switch his main focus to football his junior year after conversations with coaches and scouts. Krause had a successful High school career racking up 9 interceptions in his junior year tying a school record, and gathering in another 4 his senior year for a total of 13 for his high school career.
Krause spent his pre-college years living with his mom, and frequently visiting his grandparents who had a great deal of influence on him and his life. His mom was a hard working single mother, who taught him the value of hard work. His grandpa a 31 year army veteran instilled discipline and respect on him and where he got his athletic ability. "
College career
"Krause accepted a full ride to USC in 2013 where he played for Lane Kiffin, Ed Orgeron and Clay Helton until the 2017 season.
As a true freshman Krause started all 14 games for the Trojans. He continued to live up to his 5-star prospect rating by amassing a total of 43 solo tackles of which 5.5 were for loss, 4 Interceptions with a total of 51 yds, 6 pass deflections and 1 forced fumble.
His Sophomore campaign was more of the same for Krause. We saw improvement in his bump and run coverage and great improvement in his hips. Although stats were similar with 41 Tackles, 6 for loss, 1 sack, 3 Interceptions and 8 Pass deflections. We saw big game improvement from his freshman year. He shut down the #1 wideouts for Oregon and Alabama in two primetime games. He received 2nd team all American honors and 1st team Pac-12 All conference.
Krause continue to be an anchor for the Trojans secondary his Junior year. This is possibly his best year for the team, although they struggled to an 8-6 record. Krause dazzled everyone with his stat line this year. Not only did he allow a career low in receptions and yards, he ended the year with 68 tackles, 1 safety, 8 for loss, 10 Interceptions, 12 Pass deflections, 2 Forced fumbles and 1 Fumble recovery. This was his heaviest year for awards nominations. He took home the coveted Jim Thorpe award for best Defensive Back, the Chuck Bednarik award, Maxwell award and was 1st team all-American and all-conference. He also finished 4th in Heisman voting becoming the last primary defensive player to receive first place votes since Charles Woodson won the Heisman in 1997.
His senior year did not quit go as well has his Junior campaign. Krause was sidelined for the first 6 games of the year with a torn labrum. Although he returned to be the shutdown corner we know, it just did not come with as much bang and flash as his junior year. In the 8 games played Krause amassed 30 Tackles, 2 for loss, 2 Interceptions and 9 Pass deflections. "

Professional career
DSFL career
The DSFL saw its biggest draft class in history in s21 draft. Krause coming off a subpar senior year at USC was passed up till the 13th round, when the Minnesota Grey Ducks took a chance on the former standout college cornerback with the 97th overall pick. And what a pick this turned out to be for the Grey Ducks and what a defense this turned out to be for two years for the GMs of the Ducks. Krause’s first season with the Ducks saw him thrown in as a starting Corner and what an adjustment he had to make. Getting up to speed and the talent that came with such a large draft. Krause finished the season with 37 Tackles and 7 Pass Deflections. After the NSFL draft Krause and all the defensive starters returned for another developmental season with the Ducks. And we saw the development. The ducks allowed the fewest points allowed for this DSFL season and Krause finished with 45 Tackles, 11 Pass Deflections, 4 interceptions, 1 Forced Fumble and 1 Fumble Recovery and a Pro Bowl Selection. In the Pro bowl game Krause finished with 4 tackles, 1 interception, 1 touchdown and 2 Pass Deflections.
