Career highlights and awards

Swantavius Jones (born March 14, 2019) is an American football cornerback who is currently playing for the London Royals of the DSFL. He played college football for Cypress Creek and was drafted 29th overall in the 2039 DSFL Draft.

Early years

Swantavius Jones was born in Kirkland, WA to Steve, a former college football star, and Judy, a middle manager at the Globex corporation, the large multinational company that employed the majority of Cypress Creek residents. Swantavius's relatively small stature throughout his teenage years led him to the world of horse riding in which he excelled in various junior categories.

While his father encouraged him to seek a football career, jockeying was his first love. Unfortunately due to an extremely late growth spurt and a newfound love of eating, Swantavius became both too tall and too heavy to ride horses. It wasn't until his freshman year of college that he reluctantly took his father's advice and sought a place on Cypress Creek's football program, filling the void left from his love of competitive horse riding.

Despite being unable to ride, Swantavius still keeps and cares for horses in the nearby neighborhood of Bridle Trails.

College career

Swantavius got a place at his local college to study Computer Science, originally hoping to follow in his mother's footsteps if his jockeying career didn't span out. Cypress Creek were not known for their atheltic programme and did not offer football scholarships at the time.

After his growth spurt, Swantavius approached the coach and asked to play on the team. Due to his natural talent inherited from his father, Swantavius walked on as the team's starting quarterback. At 6'6 and 340lbs, and playing other recreational colleges, Swantavius was very rarely tackled to the ground. He would often find himself with 10 seconds or more with which to find an open receiver, as opposing linebackers were unable to either fell him or reach high enough to swat the ball away from him. In his 3 years at QB, Cypress Creek lost just 2 matches. His signature move when running in a touchdown was the 'Swanty Shake'.

In his senior year with one eye on the DSFL, Swantavius requested a move to OL. The head coach reluctantly accepted, but Cypress Creek kept winning as they moved to a 4 man offensive line, with Swantavius protecting the entire left side by himself.

DSFL Career

Jones was drafted with the 29th overall pick in the 2039 DSFL Draft by the London Royals. On signing with the team, Royals management employed the services of Dr. Nick Riviera to 'resculpt' Jones's body. After 12 hours of highly experimental surgery, Jones woke up 130 lbs lighter and 5 inches shorter, making him an ideal prototype for a cornerback.

2039 DSFL Season

Jones was immediately installed into the London Royals starting lineup, but as his new body type didn't lend itself to being quite as fast as the Royals head coaches expected, he was placed into the nickelback position. He had a promising debut, deflecting a pass, forcing a fumble and leading the team with 7 tackles in a win against the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers. Jones later enjoyed the best game of his short career in terms of individual statistics against the Tijuana Luchadores in Week 5, forcing a fumble, recovering two fumbles, sacking the QB and recording 10 total tackles. In this performance, he also broke the all-time DSFL record in fumble return yards for both a single game and an entire season.

At the halfway point of the season and after a gruelling and intensive training regime to improve his running speed, the Royals management moved Jones to a true CB position. He repayed the faith his coaches placed in him by recording the first interception of his career in a Week 8 win over the Minnesota Grey Ducks, before bagging his second against the Birddogs in Week 11.

The Royals had a late season surge to take the top spot in the Northern Football Conference, and in the Conference Championship game, Jones helped hold Portland Pythonss QB Sam Howitzer to just 3.7 YPA as the Royals advanced to their second Ultimini. In the season finale, London emerged victorious for their first ever title, with Jones recording 3 tackles and deflecting 2 passes.
