Ryan "The Bean" McBean (born April 22, 2034) is an American football defensive tackle who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Rutgers University (RU) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Ryan McBean was born on April 22nd, 2035 to parents Bruce McBean and Donna McBean. Ryan was the youngest of nine children and his family grew up very poor, living in a double-wide trailer behind Crawfordsville's Fraternal Order of Eagles. Ryan's father Bruce was the head coach of the Crawfordsville High football team, and as a result, Ryan showed an interest in the sport from an early age. Bruce McBean had previously played defensive tackle in his earlier years and was a very large man. Ryan was no different as he was the biggest player on the football team, even his freshman year. While Crawfordsville was a small town, Ryan was a large presence as college scouts from both in-state and out of state colleges came to watch his games. After a very successful senior seasons where he helped lead his team to the Indiana championship game, Ryan had several D1 offers to play defensive tackle. While he could attend any school in Indiana on scholarship, he instead elected to leave his small town for Rutgers University in the shadow of New York City.

College career

McBean came to campus having been a very big fish in a very small pond. However, he soon learned that this would not be the case for college. McBean's first few practices did not go well at Rutgers; he could not shed blocks as reliably as before, and his speed no longer gave him the edge over opposing offensive linemen. The mental pressure that he had put on himself to perform, combined with the lack of results in practice, left McBean extremely discouraged and wondering if he should even keep playing football. McBean would then take a 3-year leave of absence from the team. Though still enrolled at Rutgers, he would not participate in any football-related activities. During the 3 years away, Ryan still kept up with his football diet and workout routine. Eventually, he sought the help of a sports psychologist. After numerous sessions over that 3-year span, McBean was ready to return. He was welcomed back with open arms and went on to have a spectacular senior season. He would rack up 12 TFL's, 7 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles.

2058

Ryan McBean was selected by the Bondi Beach Buccaneers with the last pick of the second round in the 2057 DSFL draft. McBean was expecting to go a little later in the draft so this was a nice surprise for him. The season started out strong for both the team and McBean with a 20-10 victory over the Norfolk Seawolves. McBean would tally the first 3 tackles of his career as well as his first TFL. This early season success unfortunately was followed by 2 losses to the Dallas Birddogs and the Portland Pythons. In the contest against the Pythons, however, McBean notched his first sack of six for the season. Following the 1-2 start, McBeans and the Bucs would stand at just 2-5 halfway through the season. However, Bondi would go on a tear, going 5-2 in their last 7 games. Over this span, McBean tallied 5 more tackles for loss, 4 more sacks, and even a safety. Despite narrowly missing the playoffs, McBean's performance this season was enough to earn him a spot in the DSFL Pro Bowl. With the season over, McBean would turn his eyes towards the ISFL.

2040

Ryan McBean was selected by the Orange County Otters with the 5th pick of the first round in the 2058 ISFL draft. McBean was ecstatic to be selected by the Otters as he knew it was a great franchise to play for. The season unfortunately started out with a loss for the Otters, but McBean was able to notch his first sack against the San Jose Sabercats. The next week was even better as McBean recorded a second sack against quarterback Willier Miller, along with a win for the Otters against the Sailfish. After starting out 1-1, McBean and the Otters would go on to lose 6 of their next 8 games. McBean also had not recorded another sack during this period, though he did have one tackle for loss. While the Otters would split the remaining 6 games 3-3, finishing with a record of 6-10, Ryan would record an additional 3 sacks. Certainly a disappointing first season for both the team and the player, McBean showed promise.
