Josh Gibson (born January 3, 2037) is an American football safety for the New Orleans Second Line of the National Simulation Football League (ISFL).

Early years

Josh Gibson grew up as an aspiring Australian Rules football player, in his early years he had nothing to do with the game of American Football or Gridion which would see him pick up his life and move to the States later in his life. While he wasn't playing American Football he was training skills that would help him in his future career, playing junior football Gibson was never the greatest athlete - rather he had to learn the art of reading a ball in flight and the skill of when to come up and directly influence a contest and when he should hang back. As he grew older his physical abilities started to flourish, his skills of reading the ball were made a lot more effective when he suddenly had elite closing speed and an outstanding vertical jump. These were the skills that he learnt that set the base for the ISFL player he would become.

College career

Gibson never attended a university, as is the norm in Australia he was drafted to the Australian Football League (AFL) straight out of High School. In the AFL he struggled to live up to his billing as a top talent, struggling at North Melbourne to break into the first team he played sporadically over the first three years of his career. When he did get game time he showed his strengths in reading the ball and could impact the game at times, at other times he felt lost out on the field. The coaches gameplan was built on man on man defending, this wasn't Gibson's strong suit this led to him falling out favour with the coaching staff and eventually leaving the team. At 21 he was left teamless and unsure if he would be able to continue pursuing his dream, at this stage he saw the ISFL and decided to try and bring his skills to the Safety position. Perhaps in a different universe a team reaches out to him and he becomes a champion player in the AFL.

Professional career

DSFL career

Gibson started his DSFL career as a Post-TDL waiver create who was claimed by the London Royals, in that Season he would join a Royals team that lost to the Coyotes in the first round of the S41 DSFL playoffs. After the season, Gibson entered the draft proper and there he was selected at the end of the first round by S41 Ultimini Runner Ups - the Kansas City Coyotes. He immediately slotted into the Strong Safety position for Kansas City, with high hopes for the season the Coyotes were disappointed to struggle for most of the season. In the last two weeks they managed to comfortably beat both Dallas and Tijuana on the way to the playoffs. Gibson himself had a poor season, registering only one interception and 6 passes defended - he had a few strong games during the season but he did not have the consistency that he was seeking.

Gibson was chosen at the back end of the first round in the S43 ISFL Draft, New Orleans traded up to select Gibson as he fell down the board due to concerns over his ability to buy equipment and his commitment to the league. New Orleans showed faith in the youngster by promoting the first round pick immediately - it was a tough year for the Secondline as a whole but Gibson showed some glimpses. The brightest of which was the multi interception game that he had in Week 2 which also included his first defensive touchdown of his career, whilst New Orleans has had a tough run in recent years Gibson is considered to be a main part of their defensive core that will hope to deliver the Secondline back to the playoffs. Gibson will make a move to Linebacker for his sophmore season to assist the Secondline's progression on defense.

Gibson started his second season with New Orleans but changing positions to help provide the biggest impact for the team. Gibson moved from his safety position down into the box where he took up the linebacker position next too second year stud Bubba Hog. The year was one of growth for New Orleans, with a young quarterback in Speedings leading the offense the team saw themselves take the first step in their rebuild. They moved off the bottom of the standings (only just). Gibson showed his affinity for his new position in a series of strong showings. We was given the defensive game ball three times in Week 1, Week 9 and Week 15. His best outing was Week 9 against a strong New York side. In New York he managed a 14 tackle game that included a tackle for a loss and a sack. This was also an important game for Gibson as he had just been named the defensive captain of the Secondline.

Season 45 was a big step forward for the Secondline and Gibson himself. Gibson was able to hit the ground running after having had a season to establish himself after his position switch from Safety to Linebacker.

He started the season red hot, tallying 5 plus pass deflections, 2 sacks and a pick over the first five games of the season. Gibson's improved production was a great supporting act for Bruce White who produced nearly an all time season for New Orleans. These two along with Alistair Adebam anchored the front seven for New Orleans which saw the Secondline be a lot more competitive than in years past.

The team won 5 games and lost a further 5 by less than one score. Gibson characterises the new NOLA core, young and hungry Gibson will be one of the members of the defense that will try and drive the Secondline forward towards greater success later in his career.
