Griffin Porter (born December 2, 2017) is an American football linebacker for the Prospect of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Griffin Porter, son of Julia and Roman Porter was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland ina family home. The city's pride in their football team, the Baltimore Ravens, ultimately led Porter to his first football tryout at Perry Hall Highschool. He maintains today that his role model, Ray Lewis, was the catalyst for his interest in football, and that the city's support of the team was what drove him to tryout. At Perry Hall, Porter would remain the starting linebacker for his sophomore, junior, and senior years. This is after a brief stint freshman year, where Porter spent his time at defensive end. During Porter's time at Perry Hall, he played sidelong with his brother in-law, Taliesan. Porter found he wasn't quite fast enough to pla outside linebacker, and it's why he ultimately made the switch away from defensive end. In addition to football, Griffin was a member of the chess team during his freshman, sophomore, and junior years, only ceasing official play during his senior year to focus on attracting the attention of scouts.

College career

In 2035, Porter accepted a scholarship that would send him southwards to Miami, Florida, where he would play for them from 2036-2038. Playing for the Hurricanes proved a challenge for Porter, as he found himself underweight and too slow. His first season was considered underwhelming by many, as he posted sub-30 tackles, and only a single turnover in 12 games started. The following two seasons, working closely with defensive coordinator, Manny Diaz, and stregth and conditioning staff, Gus Felder, both saw improvements upon the last. Porter posted 48, and then 63 solo tackles respectively. Turnovers proved to be more erratic, recording 4 his sophomore year, and 2 his junior year. It was in 2019 that Porter received the Dick Butkus award for achievement at linebacker. This was largely due to the double digit 910) sacks posted his junior year. It was following his junior year at Miami that Griffin declared for the draft.

DSFL 2037 Season

For Porter, his first season in the DSFL was a roller-coaster of production. In the first official game of the season, Porter logged a mere 6 tackles and 2 pass deflections. While he didn't display an affinity for tackling so much, he did succeed in displaying his versatility across the field, and his ability to keep up with some of the quicker tight ends in the league. Fast forward to halfway through the season and by then Porter had begun to show he was unwilling to be called mediocre, as he logged 10 total tackles, as well as a sack in the loss against the pythons. This was the beginning of Porter's first ascension statistically, as he would receive Luchadore game-balls in weeks 7, 8, and 9 consecutively, logging a total of 27 tackles, 2 TFLs, a forced fumble, and two sacks in that time. However, the entire season was not to be celebrated, as his numbers fell significantly, logging a measly 6 tackles in the final two games of the season, with little else to show for his time spent on the field. With that said, though, the Luchadores finished the season at 10-4.

Beginning the conference championships, tension had never been so high for Porter. Coming off career lows, he hoped to remind his GMs why he was drafted fourth overall. Unfortunately, by many standards, it seems he remained rather quiet with the pressure on. With a small sample size, it's hard to say if this is what can be expected of Porter in the NSFL, but across the conference championships, and Ultimini game, a total of 7 tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 sack will not justify a first round selection, nor will it inspire confidence in NSFL GMs who often receive only one shot in high pressure situations.
