Fred Edison (born May 4, 2028) is an American football linebacker who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for University of North Carolina and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Fred Edison was born into a blue collar, working class family, living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Fred was an only child and his parents were too busy working to remind him to brush his teeth & make his bed. Edison, before the age of 10, showed athletic prowess and was very involved in youth sports. He was named to the AP All-American Flag Football Team at age 9. During his high school years, he played on the varsity basketball & varsity football team at Kellogg's Academy. While he played, Fred broke numerous records for his school's athletics program. Upon his graduation from Kellogg's Academy, he was honored by the academy by getting his very own type of cereal with his face on the box. Edison thought long and hard about what his college path should look like and decided that he wanted to continue to play both football, and basketball.

The Incident

When Fred Edison was younger, he was elite. Not saying he isn't elite now, but when he 10 he was head and shoulders and knees above everyone else, literally. In grade school, Edison measured approximately 6 feet, and 2 inches tall and weighed almost 200 pounds. His father worked at a school for the blind and although he was able to see, Fred Edison was enrolled in the school. Due the student's lack of sight, Fred was often the last one picked when the kids were picking teams, this, however, would be their undoing. In Kickball, Fred averaged 26 home runs per inning, although nobody could see, if they could, they would've been super impressed. Fred Edison should've been hailed as a hero, instead, his greatness went unseen. This ignited a passion inside of Fred, a burning passion to dominate his opponents, this would ultimately lead to what has since been known as "the incident."

It was June 12th, the last day of school, only 4 hours remained until the final bell rang. During the weekends, Fred had been refining his upper body strength to become the best at kickball pitching, nobody would be scoring on him anymore, today was the day he showed everyone how powerful he had become. The lunch bell rang and everyone walked with a cane to the cafeteria, they were serving sloppy joes today. Fred didn't enjoy sloppy joes, his hatred of them fueled his anger, and when lunch was over, recess began. It was now 2 hours until the final bell, although some of the blind students wouldn't live to hear it. As the students got into kickball teams, Fred was selected as pitcher because he was the only one that could see where he was throwing. At bat was Greg Haffentool, a lowly runt of the 5th grade, a year older than Fred.

"We want a pitcher, not a belly-itcher!" Greg Haffentool taunted, unknowingly uttering his last words.
Fred Edison then unleashed the mightiest of kickball pitches ever not-seen. The pitch was a bit high, on purpose, however. The sheer speed of the ball was so immensely fast, that upon colliding with the lower torso of Greg, it simply kept going, leaving a kickball-shaped hole where his abdomen had been a millisecond ago.

"Strike!" Called the catcher, who, along with everyone else, did not see what had transpired.
Edison took advantage of this and continued to play as if nothing had happened, recess went on as normal and nobody noticed anything, soon following, he got on a bus and went home and eventually went on to declare for the DSFL draft. They say the remains of Greg Haffentool are still there to this day, just waiting, for someone to actually see them.

College career

At North Carolina University, Fred Edison played on both the football, and the basketball team. Fred's finances were taken care of by his Frosted Flake's royalties and he consistently made the Dean's list. In his sophomore year, he decided basketball was too childish and devoted himself entirely to the gridiron. During his later years at NCU, he was diagnosed with a tooth cavity, leading to his intensely controversial decision to stop eating Frosted Flakes, which eventually led to the cancellation of his cereal. Depressed and sore from getting his cavity filled, he found solace in perfecting his craft. In his senior year, Edison reportedly watched 4 times as much film as he did the year prior, and was able to dead lift twice he did as a sophomore. Shortly before his graduation, he received a massive endorsement deal from General Mills, Kellogg's rival. He finished his college career the way it began, above everybody else.

Season 34

Fred Edison became available just in time to play the final game of the regular season. He was fortunate to be picked up off waivers by the Minnesota Grey Ducks, one of the best teams within the league. Going into week 14, the Grey Ducks were primed to make a playoff run, currently sitting at the number two seed in the DSFL North, with the Kansas City Coyotes being #1. Fred Edison was eager to contribute to this team and make the most out of it. Although it was his first game in the DSFL, Edison came prepared, and quickly made his presence felt by the opponents, recording 3 tackles, 1 sack, and even recovering a fumble and returning it inside the opponent's 10 yard line. The Grey Ducks were victorious against the Bondi Beach Buccaneers and even more exciting, the Coyotes had lost, elevating the Ducks from the number 2, to the number 1 seed. Edison participated in the victory over the Coyotes in the conference championship, earning 6 tackles and an additional sack. Heading into the Ultimini Championship, win or lose, Edison had earned valuable experience. In the Championship game, the Minnesota Grey Ducks roster played poorly, with the defense struggling to stop the Dallas offense. The Ducks lost but Edison had improved his game, getting 8 tackles, and 1 tackle for a loss. Even though the season didn't have a fairytale ending, this was the beginning of Fred Edison's legacy in the DSFL, for better, or for worse.

Season 35

Fred Edison was drafted in the second round of the Season 35 DSFL draft by the Kansas City Coyotes with the 12th pick. Edison was drafted into an underdog team that had just been damaged by an internal scandal. Despite the team being considered an underdog, the team had an amazing draft, they picked the 4 best wide receivers in the entire draft, Fred Edison's brother, Jair Pharaoh, and added amazing defensive weapons like Fred Edison, Justin Cloud, and Jean-Ralphio Saperstein. Fred Edison prospered on his new team, which just so happens to be the team he played against, and beat, in the previous season's conference championship. Edison, alongside teammate Austin Morley, was nominated one of the team's captains, he represented the team's defense. Early into the season, Edison was playing like a Defensive MVP and Defensive Rookie of the Year but failed to record an impressive number of sacks during the middle of the season. Edison was the first and one of the only players, to record a safety during the season making him stand out above the rest. Fred Edison found it difficult to get sacks some games because of his teammates were so good at getting them before he did, his teammate even broke the single season record for sacks. Perhaps on a different team, Fred might've gotten even more sacks. Edison ended the season with an impressive 9 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 10 tackles for a loss, 1 safety, 5 passes defended, and made 88 tackles with only missing 3 tackles the entire season. Fred Edison and the KC Coyotes eventually made the playoffs and headed into the conference championship as underdogs against the dominant Portland Pythons. This game was not Edison's best but he played well and recorded 9 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss. The Coyotes narrowly beat the Pythons, a team that had dominated them during the entire regular season. Kansas City's victory was filled with miracle after miracle and a game winning touchdown by close friend, brother, and fellow teammate, Jair Pharaoh, which made the victory all the more enjoyable for him. Fred Edison described it as "giving him chills" and "like a fairytale." Unfortunately, the Ultimini would not be as enjoyable for Edison as the Coyotes would eventually lose to [REDACTED]. Edison capped off his DSFL career losing in back to back championships with two different teams, a journey barely anyone can relate to.

Season 36

Fred Edison was drafted by the Berlin Fire Salamanders in the 6th selection in the 3rd round of the ISFL S36 Draft to the surprise of many. Considered a top 5 Linebacker by scouts it was very uncomfortable to watch such a talent slip so far in the draft. He was Berlin's 3rd defensive player picked, and 2nd linebacker. Fred Edison was joining a team with an aging roster and a rookie quarterback, the expectations were low but Edison still aspired to be a part of something special. Fred was called up immediately to play the S36 season, Berlin's first round linebacker, Kevin McThumper, was allowed to spend an additional season in the DSFL. During the 4 preseason games, Fred Edison recorded 23 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumbles recovered, an impressive start but unfortunately, these stats don't count. Fred Edison was appointed a captain of the team, a signifier of his importance to the team, or maybe just to make him feel important, who knows. It took just 1 game for the rookie to record the most tackles on the team. During the week 7 game against the Chicago Butchers, Edison recorded his very first sack, two plays later he made the tackle to force 4th down. Even though the Butchers would end up winning the game in a landslide, Edison was beginning to establish a case for Defensive Rookie of the Year. As week 11 arrived, the Fire Salamanders were woefully sitting at record of just 2-8, and Berlin was scheduled to face the Philadelphia Liberty, the team that had drafted Edison's brother. It's safe to say that Edison put on a clinic that game. Against the Liberty, Edison recorded his best stat line with 10 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 2 passes defended, and 1 interception. That game, Edison led the team in every defensive stat category, which is astonishing for anyone to do, especially a rookie. The Salamanders finished their season 2-14, but the team's recorded did not reflect the success that Fred had found on the field. His success was reflected in the ISFL S36 Award Ceremony where he received votes for the all-pro team as a rookie, something not many have achieved, I think. Unfortunately, Fred shockingly was not awarded Defensive Rookie of the Year, he lost the award to Mason Jones by a 11 - 9 split decision vote. Edison certainly had an exciting rookie season, but his career was just beginning, I think.

Season 37

Following last season's personal success, Edison was hoping the team would catch up to his success and have a better season then its previous one. Several teammates Fred had gotten close to during last season were not on the team anymore, but to make up for their absence, several new rookies had joined the lineup. Two rookies that would be joining him were S36 first round pick Kevin McThumper, and S37 first round pick Jordan Hartline. Both rookies were linebackers and took some time to establish chemistry with. During the first few games, rookie Kevin McThumper, the linebacker chosen before Edison during the S36 draft, was the star of the show. Fred Edison and McThumper eventually evened out a bit, making the defense incredibly strong. Even with the help of the two young linebackers, the Salamanders started at a pathetic record of just 1-5. The good thing about young players is that they improve fast. Fred had improved from his previous season's stats, averaging more tackles, and improving his amount of sacks. Week 8 was this season's big game for Edison. Fred's week 8 performance against the San Jose Sabercats was nearly twice as good as his astonishing week 11 performance from the previous season. Edison recorded 7 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, set a personal record with 2 sacks, and got his very first forced fumble and fumble recovery on the same play. The great thing about this game was that he was not alone because several other players on the Berlin defense had breakout performances. Unfortunately, like many times before, the Fire Salamanders would still lose. at week 10, the fire salamanders were fighting for the title of worst team with a record of 2-8, but as previously mentioned, this team was built with young players, and just like young players, Berlin started improve fast. With the help of teammates like fellow linebackers McThumper and Hardline, star defensive tackle Nathen Meagher, ball hawk cornerbacks Tre Dawson and Charlie Thorsen, none of which were more than 2 seasons into the league, the Salamanders improved quickly. Fred Edison and the Salamanders had started the season winning 1 out of the first 6 games and losing the other 5, but as the season ended, things were different, the team ended the season winning 5 of the last 6 games and only losing 1. 2 of the last five victories were back-to-back wins against the 2 teams with the best and second best record in the entire league. Fred Edison was seeing changes on his team at a remarkable rate and was looking forward to the team's bright future.
