Fat Jack (born January 5, 2028) was an American football defensive tackle for the San Jose Sabercats of the International Simulation Football League (ISFL).

Early years

Jamison "Fat" Jack was born in San Jose, CA to parents Gregory and Marsha on May, 25th, 2026. He is the oldest of 5 siblings. Jack started playing football at a young age as an 8-year old and growing up played mostly on the offensive line for his youth teams though also saw some time on the defensive line as well. Early on, playing offensive line, he was known for his ability to pancake defenders and was referred often as Flap Jack due to his last name as well as another name for pancakes. Flap Jack as he was then called, went on to attend Leland High School in San Jose and played football all 4 years. Jamison, always being a larger kid and human, never really had an issue with his weight and some opposing players in high school, knowing he was called Flap Jack, started trying to tease him by calling him "Fat Jack". Using this, Jamison started going by Fat Jack from his Sophomore year in high school and the name always stayed.

College career

Fat Jack was not a heavily recruited player out of high school despite his great size and strength and his speed and motor were questioned throughout the recruiting process. He was a 2-star recruit and had offers from a few schools such as Grand Canyon University, Incarnate Word College, and his eventual choice, Northern Arizona University.

Jack redshirted his first year with the team due to an early workout injury that resulted in a Torn Labrum and after trying to work through it and put off surgery, he was inactivated after lingering issues and was sidelined the rest of the way to recover and rehab. His durability would then be brought into question but Jack would then go on to play the next 4 years for the Lumberjacks starting in every game. His redshirt freshman and sophomore seasons, he put up nearly identical numbers posting 58 tackles each season, 11 tackles for a loss, and 7 and 8 sacks respectively. Jack really exploded onto the scene in his Junior and Senior seasons winning all-conference defensive player of the year and finishing with 15 sacks each season. Not known as a pass rusher, Jack was able to overpower the weaker competition in the FCS and make himself a potential DSFL draftee to start his pro career. He would go on to play in the Senior Bowl where he played well in front of pro scouts after being officially declared for the DSFL Draft.

Fat Jack was drafted by the Bondi Beach Buccaneers with the 59th overall pick in the Season 35 DSFL Draft. Jack was the 2nd of 2 defensive tackles to be taken by the Bucs in the draft after selecting DT Nathan Meagher in the 5th round.

Jack had never played in a set with two defensive tackles before as he was generally regarded as a 3-4 nose tackle in the middle, taking up blocks and letting the defensive ends and linebackers be able to have more open lanes. It was a struggle during the season to acclimate to the new playbook and play style as Jack on the season finished with just 46 total tackles and just 6 of them for a loss. He also, after being a premier pass rusher in college, struggled to pressure opposing quarterbacks and notched just 2 sacks on the season. It was a bit of a down season for Jack as he was looking to help springboard his opportunity into the ISFL and have teams and their scouts eager to draft him. The Bucs ended up just 3-11 on the season so it was not just on Jack and with his switching play styles, the overall record of the team, and his still large potential, he looks to go strong into the draft where experts believe he still has top 3 round potential.

Heading into the Season 36 ISFL Draft, many experts still kept that top 3 round potential but in general the consensus was that Jack would likely be a 3rd or even 4th round pick after an underwhelming combine despite making up for it slightly with a better pro day. True to the predictions, Fat Jack was drafted to the San Jose Sabercats with the 7th pick in the 3rd round (35th overall). Having been born in San Jose, Jack was excited to go back home and have a chance to play in front of his friends and family again after his collegiate stint in Arizona. He was quoted in saying, "This is the dream scenario, I was sitting there with every San Jose pick with my fingers crossed that my name would be called and I let out a huge scream when it happened!" Despite still being relatively raw in his overall game, Jack was called up to fill a hole on the defensive line for the Sabercats soon after he was drafted. Jack, with his size and strength, proved to be a stalwart in the middle as a nose tackle. While not over the stat sheet racking up just 40 tackles and 2 sacks on the season, Jack's ability to eat up blocks helped his teammates be able to focus on pressuring the QB and San Jose, while they did not finish high in sacks had a solid pressure rate. San Jose made the playoffs due to some solid balanced performances from the offense and defense and while they did not go far, Jack was still excited to experience ISFL playoff football early on. That exposure can only help moving forward as the team can gather a winning mentality especially with their young players.

Season 39 was a very similar season for Jack in total as his career numbers aligned around where he was year by year from his rookie season. While it was not a statistically significant season for the big defensive tackle for the Sabercats, he still was a solid presence for the defense holding the interior and eating up blocks to allow the ends and linebackers to have more space to rush the passer. One big stat that was shown from a team perspective and reflective of the solid growth shown by Jack is from Season 38 to Season 39, the Sabercats improved 14 sacks over the one season with Jack contributing 2 extra sacks himself in Season 39. He tied his career high in sacks with 3 while also recording a career high in tackles as well and tying his career low for missed tackles. So, Jack's impact grew from a personal and team perspective as he turned from solid young player to entrenched veteran along the defensive line for San Jose. His pass rush ability definitely had started to show more and with more more growth and coaching, we could see Jack be able to continue to grow his career high in both tackles and sacks as the next seasons occur.

Season 40 would be a season that we saw Fat Jack maybe reach the next step in his career and reach a height in his progression that he had not hit so far in his career. Jack came into the Sabercats camp in Season 40 and put in a lot of work and looked the part early and impressed his coaches. Jack worked heavily on his ability to use his size, strength, and speed in order to break through blocks to not only make tackles but also to get to the quarterback at a higher level and be more than just a big run stuffer. His effort appeared to do wonders and he broke through with a career high 5 sacks on the season to go along with a career high tying 4 tackles for a loss and career high tying 2 forced fumbles as well. Jack was able to help his team and be an additional defensive weapon as a big DT. He also set a new career high in tackles with 67 on the season as well showing he was really doing well to break through blocks and get to opposing ball carriers. On the season, San Jose struggled a bit but Jack was a big part of a resurgent defense for the Sabercats on the season. He received All-Pro honors in the ASFC on the 2nd team and finally was showing some promise that he showed earlier on in his career.

Season 41 was a bit of a continuation from Season 40 for Jack in that the team was not at the top level but the defense was really solid and Jack was still improving his game a bit including his ability to rush the passer. There were part of Jack's game that still showed the promise but overall, statistically, it was a little bit of a down year in comparison with Season 40 in a few different areas. After setting a career high in tackles in a season and matching career highs in tackles for a loss and forced fumbles, he fell way short of his Season 40 totals. Jack had 15 less tackles with just 52 on the year, only 1 tackle for a loss, and 0 forced fumbles or recoveries so it was certainly down. What Jack had made strides in however was that he did continue to set a new high in sacks for a season as he got to opposing QBs 6 times on the year creeping ever closer to a potential double digit sack season. Jack is striving to keep rushing the passer and aims to get better still even in future seasons. He is continuing to put in work even as he ages in the league but approaching his peak, Jack was and is still a reliable piece to the San Jose defense.
