Emerson Quinn (born February 7, 2027) was an American football linebacker for the London Royals of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Emerson Quinn was born on July 2nd, 2027 in Visalia, California, to Donald Quinn, a professor at Fresno State University, and Kaila Moreno, a secretary for the university. Donald Quinn played two years for the Chicago Maroons before undergoing surgery for a career-ending injury. During rehabilitation, Donald met Kaila, where they began their relationship, ultimately marrying after university. Although Donald never pursued football after his injury, he maintained his passion for the sport. A few years later, Emerson was born. Quinn's mother encouraged him to play football at the age of 7, to the dismay of Quinn's father, an ex-tight-end himself. As a former player at a high level, Donald was not supportive of the idea of his son entering the sport at such a young age. Quinn took to the game, telling his elementary school teacher that he intended to become "a star in the NFL." After seeing his son's love for the sport, Donald changed his mind and began supporting his son's football aspirations.

College career

Quinn attended college at Fresno State University where he played for the Bulldogs from 2047 to 2049, where he played as a tight-end. After redshirting his first year in 2047, he played in all 13 games with one start in 2048 and had 19 receptions for 318 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2049, Quinn started 11 of 13 games, recording 27 receptions for 425 yards and six touchdowns. He was the recipient of the 2049 Ryan Reynolds Award. In early January 2050, it was announced that Quinn would forgo his senior year at Fresno State in favor of the 2050 DSFL Draft. Quinn finished his three years at Fresno State with the seventh most touchdown receptions (20) by any receiver and had the second most receiving yards (1,665) by a tight end. By the end of his college career, Emerson considered a 'position swap' per the suggestion of his father, who suffered a career-ending injury in college.

2050 (Season 35)

Quinn was drafted by the London Royals in Round 7, and was the 50th overall pick. Although starting the season slow, Quinn had a decent showing towards the end, nabbing an award for DSFL Defensive Performance of the Year for his Week 9 performance against the Minnesota Grey Ducks, where managed 6 tackles, one tackle for a loss, and two interceptions, one of which he scored a defensive touchdown. He started all 14 games for the Royals, mostly switching between the linebacker positions on the defense. Despite this, Quinn was disappointed in his first full season in the DSFL, and vowed to put in extra work each week. Attributing his failures to his recent position change from Tight-End to Linebacker, Quinn committed his offseason to improving his game speed. When asked about this in a presser shortly after the season ended, he had this to say: "The game moves much faster on defense, especially at the linebacker position. I'm having to learn to be much more reactive. I'm confident in improving on this, as I played League of Legends for several years. You kinda need reaction speed for that sort of thing."

2051 (Season 36)

Following his first season in the DSFL, Emerson was drafted by the Arizona Outlaws during the 7th round for the ISFL, and notably drafted alongside teammate and fellow linebacker, Ignatius Reilly. Because of a slow development during his previous season, Quinn played another season at the DSFL level. During his second season, Emerson Quinn started all 14 games, moving around the linebacker position. Although starting every single game, Quinn showed a regression in performance, posting 8 fewer tackles. He did improve in his tackles for loss, getting double the tackles for loss over his previous year at 8. Quinn also suffered a stale season in coverage, recording 0 interceptions all season, 3 less than his first full year with the Royals. Quinn was notably missing from several team practices, citing 'personal reasons.' This lack of time with his teammates showed, as he all-around performance suffered. Despite several setbacks, Quinn showed grit during the season.
