Donald McBobby (born June 21, 2018) is an American football linebacker for the Portland Pythons of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Donald McBobby was born in Hartford, Connecticut on June 21st, 2018, to parents Billy and Veronica McBobby. He spent much of his early life trying out different sports, such as basketball, baseball, and soccer, but never tried out for a football team until his junior year of high school. He quickly fell in love with the game and became a star linebacker on his high school team, leading them to the state championship game in his senior season. His raw talent, combined with his athletic frame and build, caught the eye of his coaches and eventually, college scouts, and after an astonishing junior season of high school he was beginning to be recruited by numerous division two universities, and eventually even attracted some division one eyes. McBobby is known for being outgoing and fun to be around, and is often referred to as a leader in the locker room by his teammates and coaches.

College career

McBobby eventually committed to the University of Connecticut, staying close to his home. However, a freak injury rendered McBoby unable to play in his first two collegiate seasons, which tested his will and drive to come back. McBobby had to decide whether to commit to a treacherous road to recovery, or to hang it up once and for all. Eventually, he decided to fully commit to coming back in the best physical shape he possibly could, and was ready to go for his third year. Connecticut has been known for many years as being a laughingstock of a football program, finishing 1-11 in each of the two seasons that McBobby sat out. However, with Bobby's defensive leadership, the team improved all the way to.... 2-10. Seriously, it's an awful program, they really need to just cut football. Anyways, that injury propelled McBobby to become the player he is today, and he decided to declare for thedraft, very much still an unheralded, underrated prospect. Going into the DSFL draft, he was projected as a mid-round talent.

McBobby joined the Norfolk Seawolves late in season 23, playing in four games and making just three tackles. As the season 24 DSFL draft approached, McBobby flew a bit under the radar, and ended up being selected at pick 47 by the Portland Pythons.

McBobby's first full season in the DSFL started off with a bang, recording 12 tackles and a sack in the very first game of the season against the Norfolk Seawolves. Like any young player, McBobby was pretty streaky in terms of his performances, and that first week proved to be his best overall performance of the season. But McBobby was able to finish the season with some of the best statistics in the DSFL for rookies - with 85 tackles and 6 sacks. As the season went on, the Pythons found themselves in the thick of the playoff race, and a crucial three game win streak in weeks 7-9 put them in good position to make the playoffs. The team would go on to lose four of their last five games, but thanks to some luck elsewhere were able to secure a playoff spot with a mediocre 6-8 record. McBobby and the Pythons would go on to play the 10-4 Tijuana Luchadores in the semi-finals, where they went down hard, only mustering three points scored in a deflating loss.

Soon after the season ended, McBobby turned his focus to the season 25 ISFL draft, where he was to be drafted. Despite his good performance in the S24 season, his rapid improvement in skillset throughout his time in the league, and an impressive combine showing, McBobby found himself slipping on draft day. After a far longer than expected wait, McBobby was selected with the 33rd overall pick by the Yellowknife Wraiths, where McBobby homes to call home for his entire career.
