De'Aaron Harper II (born June 7, 2025) is an American football cornerback who currently plays for the New Orleans Second Line. He has previously played for the Tijuana Luchadores and the University of Florida Gators.

Early years

De'Aaron Harper was born on July 6. 2025 as the eldest of 5 siblings. His father was a former college football player who worked as a security guard, while his mother was a teacher. Harper spent a lot of time playing youth football on teams coached by his father. He attended Miami Carol City High School, where he maintained a 4.1 GPA and was a 4 year at CB and RB on the varsity football team. As a freshman, he was a starting SG on the basketball team but quit to stay healthy for football. His high school football coach called him "the most talented athlete I've ever seen at the high school level". Harper was named all-conference at RB in his last 3 seasons, while being named all-conference at CB for 4 straight years. In his junior and senior years he was named player of the year, making him one of the only players ever to win the award multiple times. He was a 5 star recruit after his junior year and despite dozens of offers, he chose to stay close to home and commit to the University of Florida.

College career

Harper was one of the most hyped freshmen ever at the University of Florida and he managed to earn a starting CB slot as a true freshman. In his debut game he demonstrated why he was so highly touted, allowing just 4 catches for 41 yards while recording 6 tackles and 3 pass breakups. Harper helped lead the Florida Gators to an 11-2 season, capped off with a win in the Citrus Bowl over Texas, where Harper intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown to give Florida a 10 point lead with 4 minutes remaining. Going into his sophomore year, the expectations for both him and the Gator were high, and while he lived up to his expectations, the team collapsed under the pressure. Despite Harper winning SEC defensive player of the year, leading the conference in both interceptions and passer rating allowed, the Gators were just 8-4 in the regular season. After this crushing disappointment, Harper chose to leave the University of Florida to prepare for the DSFL draft.

After a strong sophomore season at the University of Florida, De'Aaaron Harper declared for the DSFL draft, before entering the league on waivers. Signed by the Tijuana Luchadores, Harper played in 2 regular season games, recording 8 tackles and a pass defense. In the playoffs, Harper recorded 4 tackles and a pass defense. After showing potential during his waiver year, Harper entered into the draft where he was selected 23rd overall by the Luchadores. In his rookie year, Harper performed astoundingly with his 80 tackles, 4 interceptions, 18 pass defenses, and 5 forced fumbles earning him nominations for CBoY, DRoY, and Performance of the Year. Harper earned praise throughout the year for his aggressive playstyle and strong tackling and was named to the DSFL pro bowl. His 5 forced fumbles led the league, which is near unheard of for a cornerback. Following his strong 2nd season in the DSFL, Harper declared for the ISFL draft.

Following his strong season with Tijuana, the New Orleans Second Line selected him 9th overall in the 2047 (S32) draft. He signed a 3 year, 6 million dollar deal for NOLA, including performance incentives. They opted to send Harper back down to Tijuana to work on the weaker aspects of his game. He transitioned from the #2 corner to the #1 corner and his counting stats suffered as a result. Harper recorded just 2 interceptions and 17 pass defenses but he did advance to the playoffs for the first time in his career. For his efforts, Harper was named to his second pro bowl before being called up to New Orleans.

Harper's debut season in New Orleans began with a win against San Jose in which he recorded 6 tackles. He served as the #2 corner for a Secondline team that won just 3 games. Harper was criticized at times during the season for his effort but maintained a good relationship with his coaches and teammates. In the Second Line's week 9 game against the Yellowknife Wraiths, Harper recorded his first interception on a pass from Dustin Parmalee in the 3rd quarter. He also recorded his first career touchdown, returning it 79 yards to give the Second Line a two score lead. In week 13, he held Troy Abed to just 69 yards on 5 catches in a 20-13 loss. Harper finished the season with 70 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and the aforementioned pick six. He finished approximately league average in pass defenses and most advanced statistics. The New Orleans Second Line were impressed enough with his statistics that they named him the #1 corner for the following season.
