Brandon Mason (born March 19, 2030) is an American football offensive lineman for the Kansas City Coyotes of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Brandon Mason is the youngest of 3 of Fredrick and Mary Jean Mason. The Mason family was full of athletes, so competition ran in the family. Fred was a college baseball star for OSU, Sally (sister) played basketball at the University of Kentucky, and Patrick (brother) played soccer at OSU. Mason has always been a bigger guy, starting at birth weighing a whoping 10lbs, 5oz. In his younger days, he played soccer, basketball, and baseball. In highschool, he ended up trying out for the football team his junior year, and due to his size and athleticism, he was immediately put on the offensive line. Mason definitely caught the eye of the high school coaching staff, but he had a lot to learn. He had a solid high school career, receiving a few all conference awards and attracted some scouts from smaller D2 school and received a few offers, but decided to attend OSU.

College career

Mason decieded his freshmen year, that he would try out for the football team at The Ohio State University. He showed flashes of his skill, enough to be added to the team and would end up being redshirted for his freshmen season. The coaching staff was noted saying he had crazy potential, but had things to work on since he had only played 2 years of football. His sophmore year, Mason started the season as the 2nd string RG. He got his chance to start the final 2 games of the season due to injuries across the offensive line. The coaching staff said they were extremely impressed with Mason and how far he has come. The team won the final 2 games, rushed for 300 yards, and threw for 400 in that 2 game span, behind Mason's 10 pancakes and 1 sack allowed. By junior year, he had earned the trust and respect from his teammates and coaches to be names a Captain. Between his junior and senior year OSU made it to the college championship both years, winning one (senior) and losing one (junior). Both of those years, OSU was a top offense in PPG and YPG. This lead Mason to be one of the top offensive lineman in the draft.

Professional career

DSFL career

Mason graduated a semester early and prepared for the DSFL. The draft had already past, so he was put in to the free agency pool. He was hoping that coming in mid-season wasn't going to be an issue, the fear being teams would already be solidifying rosters and wouldn't want to make big adjustments. However, he was picked up quickly by the Portland Pythons and was trade to the Kansas City Coyotes, even quicker. He was noted saying, he was just excited to be in the DSFL and was honored that KCC was willing to trade for him, and was thankful that the Pythons were willing to take the initial chance on him. Little did he know, this wasn't the end of his journey as a snek. He played roughly half the

2051 - He played roughly half the season, recording 35 pancakes and allowing 6 sacks. He was one of the top DSFL OL prospects for the ISFL. The draft was thin at the OL position and the change in the salary cap made all OL, extremely valuable which played in Mason's favor. After tons of meetings with scouts, it came as a surprise when Mason heard his name at Pick 18 (Round 2, pick 4). It was the Austin Copperheads, one of the teams that didn't scout him! Once he arrived in Austin, he did see a couple of familiar faces from his time (only a couple minutes) spent with the Portland Pythons, expanding on the Snek2Snek pipeline. He will most likely play down with Coyotes in the 2052 season to continue to develop before making the move to the big leagues, but he will be able to leverage the knowledge and experience of the Copperheads to propel himself forward.

2052 - In Mason’s first full season with the Yotes, they were really excited during the off-season. Things seemed to be falling into place. There were a lot of players returning, new rookies coming in, and everything was coming together. Then the season started. Mason and the Yotes went 0-4 in the preseason, however most of the games were 1 score games. Mason had a good preseason though recording 17 pancakes and 1 sack allowed. This was setting the pace for Brandon going into the regular season. The Yotes were optimistic after how preseason went. Sadly, the regular season didn’t go the way they expected it to. They started out 0-5 with losses to London, Portland, Minnesota, Norfolk, and Bondi Beach. Mason was performing though, recording 24 pancakes and only 1 sack allowed. They finally get a win against the Birddogs. They go on to finish the season 4-10. Mason finishes with 66 pancakes and 6 sacks allowed. This was most likely the last of Mason playing with the Yotes, as he will most likely move on to the ISFL.

ISFL career

2053 - Brandon got the call in the off season that he would be called up from the DSFL to the ISFl, where he would join the Austin Copperheads that drafted him a year ago. He was excited and nervous to be joining the ISFL, but was ready for the new challenge. He was going to be a younger, less experienced player going up against some of the best in the world. Pre season predictions don’t mean much, but Brandon had seen that Austin wasn’t supposed to be great, but they were supposed to be the worst. Knowing it was just predictions, Brandon had high hopes for the himself and the team. Austin shocked the world when they jumped out a 6-1 start to the season. They had wins over Arizona (Ultimus Champions), San Jose and even a 2 point loss to New York. Those 3 teams ended up being the top 3 seeds on the ASFC. The second half of the season didn’t go as well as Brandon and the Copperheads hoped for, as they barely missed the playoffs, but Brandon and the team will only get better. They are a young team and Brandon is expecting big things in 2054.

2054 - After such a roller coaster of a season last year, Brandon was ready to grind in the offseason to get better and get back on to the field. He knew the Copperheads could do better and would do better. In his second season with the Austin Copperheads, Brandon had his best season so far. The Copperheads also had a great season, exceeding expectations of everyone. They were expected to finish in the bottom half of their division again. Brandon and the Copperheads had a better idea. They jumped out to a 6-1 start, just like they did the year before, before tanking the rest of the season. They had some rough games, but they managed to finish the rest of the season with a 5-4 record and finishing in second place, tied with Arizona at 11-5. They made the playoffs, but it quickly came to an end with a disappointing 22-21 loss to the New Orleans Second Line. Things are trending in the right direction for Brandon and hopefully even better things to come in the 2055 season.

2055 - During the offseason, Brandon was approached with the general managers about potentially taking on a new challenge. After such a great season last year, making the pro bowl and being selected to the all pro team, it might be time for him to help contribute to the team needs in other ways. One of those being, making the move from guard to tackle. While it doesn’t seem like a lot, it’s a challenging transition, but one Brandon was willing to try. He worked hard all offseason to prepare and he was feeling pretty good. However, the season didn’t start off great. After letting up a sack in each of the first 2 games, Brandon was skeptical about his ability. He kept at it though and was able to over come the challenge and actually finished the season pretty strong. He gave up one more sack in week 8, but then went the entire second half without allowing one, while also increasing his pancake count. He broke his personal record last year of 86, with 93 this season with the 3 sacks allowed. As for the copperheads, the once against took second place in the division on a 10-6 record before being beat, once again, in the divisional round. hopefully next season they can break that curse.

2056 - After a decently successful prior season at right tackle, making the move from the guard spot, Brandon once again was making a change from right tackle to left tackle. He was now responsible for protecting the Queen's blind spot. This was a challenge he was excited for. Its a very important position and after proving he could make the change from guard to tackle, he was ready for this. He showed it too, he improved from 93 pancakes (average of 5.8 a game) to 106 (average of 6.6 a game) while allowing 1 fewer sack than last season. As for his personal goals, he was pleased with his season performance, breaking triple digit pancakes. However, the team really struggled, going 7-9 after being projected to make the playoffs by most people. But as Brandon has said before, projections mean nothing. They are hoping to make some moves in the off season to help set them up for a better 2057 season.

2057 - Season 42 was a decent on for Brandon and the Austin Copperheads. Once again they were projected to finish in the top 3 of the division and be able to compete for the playoffs. Brandon was dying to get back to the playoffs. Season started off great at 6-2 and trending upwards. They hit some turbulence in the second half, struggling in games against their division, going 4-4 to finish with a 10-6 record. They are tied for third place in the division but because of their poor performance within the division, Honolulu snuck in. This crushed Brandon as he hoped to be playing in the playoffs. Personally Brandon improved from last season totaling 118 pancakes and only allowed 1 sack. He finished as the 8th back lineman in the league. He was Happy with his performance but still strives to be number 1 one day. Now he turns his focus to next season.
