Rapid Eagle (born March 11, 2015) is an American football defensive tackle for the Orange County Otters of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He played college football for Illinois before being drafted by the Orange County Otters in the 2036 ISFL Draft (S21). Prior to this, he had been drafted by the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers in the 2035 DSFL Draft (S20).


Early Years

Rapid Eagle, born in Chicago, IL before flying to Philadelphia, PA early in his childhood where he was raised. Eagle lived with his parents Fast Eagle, Quick Eagle and younger sibling Molasses Eagle growing up. Eagle's family flew back to Chicago, IL right before high school which lead him to attending Conant High School. Eagle was a two sport Athlete in high school playing baseball and football all 4 years. He was a two way player on the football team playing on the offensive and defensive line as well as getting snaps at tight end. However he was never recruited for football out of high school considered to be undersized. However, Eagle was a top baseball recruit in Illinois after leading his team to the Illinois State Championships his last 2 years of high school. He was drafted in the 21st round by the Minnesota Twins out of high school but instead committed to the University of Illinois.



College Career

As a freshman Eagle quickly lost favor with Illinois head coach Dan Hartleb. He was noted as being lazy and late to many team meetings, after only starting in four games he was cut from the baseball team despite leading the team in home runs and walks during the stretch. Cited as a bust Eagle did not transfer from the school electing to stay and finish his degree. Eagle did not participate in any athletics his sophomore year of college instead focusing on his education and cultivating mass, almost doubling his weight from his freshman year of college as well as his GPA. His junior year he tried out for the football team with during a walk-on tryout and was immediately noticed by Lovie Smith due to his size and quickness. He walked on as a backup defensive tackle starting 5 of 12 games. Finishing the year with 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks. His senior year Eagle was named a starter and captain of the defense after making large strides during the off season, starting all 13 games including the Redbox Bowl vs Cal, he finished the year with 48 tackles and a team leading 11.5 sacks.

Professional career

DSFL career

Rapid Eagle was drafted by the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers in round 5 of the 2035 DSFL Draft (S20) with the 28th overall pick. Eagle had a slow start to the Developmental Simulation Football League Preseason, only getting 2 tackles per game in the first three games. However he showed a glimmer of hope in Myrtle Beach's fourth preseason game against the Tijuana Luchadores in which he had 5 tackles and a sack. With a total of 11 tackles and a sack through the preseason Eagle solidified the starting defensive tackle job heading into the regular season. Eagle had a decent start to the season getting his first career sack in a week one match up against rival Norfolk Seawolves. The Buccaneers had a historic season on the defensive side of the ball Eagle's rookie season, allowing the fewest points per game in DSFL history. Eagle's season was highlighted with a three sack game vs the Portland Pythons in week 7 of the regular season. Myrtle Beach would end the regular season winning nine straight games leading them to a 12-2 record, the best in the SFC. The Buccaneers went on to steam roll the Norfolk Seawolves 43-10 to move onto the Ultimini game, although Eagle only recorded 2 tackles. In the Ultimini game the Buccaneers ten game win streak came to an end, the Minnesota Grey Ducks defeated them 28-3, Eagle only recorded 1 tackle in the entire game. The game would be Rapid Eagle's last in the DSFL as he was called up to the NSFL following the draft.
