The Northern Football Conference (NFC) is one of the is one of the two conferences of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL) in a professional American football league. This conference and its counterpart, the Simulation Football Conference (SFC), currently contain 4 teams each, making up the 8 teams of the NSFL. Both conferences were created in inaugural season of 2018 (S3) with 6 teams. Conferences expanded once: The London Royals joined in 2037 (S22). The London Royals are the current champions. Having won their third title in 2040 (S25)

Current Teams

Since 2036 (S21) the Northern Football Conference has had 4 teams. Previously from 2018 (S3) to 2035 (S20) it consisted of just 3 teams.

Season Format

The NFC season format consists of a four-week preseason, a fourteen-week regular season (each team plays 14 games), and a four-team single-elimination playoff culminating in the Ultimini Bowl, the league's championship game.

History

Both the NFC and AFC were created during the inaugural year of 2018 (S3) when the league commissioning board approved for the expansion for a development league. In 2037 (S22) the London Royals joined the conference as the fourth team.

The first title was won by the Norfolk Seawolves. After that, we had Portland would win back to back titles before they started their rivalry with the Kansas City Pythons. From 2021 (S6) to 2034 (S19), either Kansas City and Portland would represent the NFC (Portland has 10 wins while Kansas City has 7). This streak was broken when the Minnesota Grey Ducks in 2035 (S20) when they would make back to back NFC Championship appearances, of which they won both. Starting in season 12, the Pythons completed the first ever five-peat in NFC history, ranging from 2029 (S14) to 2034 (S19). The Portland Pythons lead the conference in NFC Championship appearances with 16 separate appearances. The Portland Pythons and the Minnesota Grey Ducks are the only teams from the NFC that have won mutliple Ultimini titles.
