Jeff Newman (born June 1, 2029) is an American football wide receiver for the Norfolk Seawolves of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years
Jeff Newman started out in the suburbs of Houston, Texas, serving as a star wide receiver for his local high school team. He learned about football at a very early age and he idolized the efforts of the Houston wide receiver who went to the Hall of Fame in the mid-2040s. This is why when he joined high school, he decided to be a wide receiver. He led the conference in receiving yards and touchdowns and helped his team go to the state championships 4 years in a row. He set numerous school records for receiving, including in yards and touchdowns. He was scouted by a lot of nationally recognized teams when he started to prepare for college but ultimately he wanted to stay local for college so he signed a letter of intent to Texas A&M University. He received offers from Kentucky, Alabama, UCLA, USC, and Michigan before choosing Texas A&M University.
College career
Jeff Newman started his college career slowly, trying to adjust to college defenses. He did manage to get 250 yards in 8 games his freshman year, which he saw as adequate. His sophomore year, his workload increased as he got used to moving on college turf fields. He got 500 yards in 12 games as his team made it to the Rose Bowl (yes... this is a weird world where Texas A&M makes it to the Big 10.) His junior year is when his stock really rose, as he was the main receiver for the team. His team managed to make it to the national championship game, where he got 100 receiving yards with 8 catches to lead his team to a win. Overall, his junior year he got 750 yards in 14 games. His senior year is when he really took off. He won the Heisman as one of the few wide receivers to ever win it, and his team repeated as he repeated his stunning performance in the title game, going 120 receiving yards with 10 catches. Newman decided that he was content with his career (also ran out of eligibility lol so that was that) and he signed up for the DSFL excited to begin his next chapter of his life. He was taken off of waivers by the Norfolk Seawolves and while the team isn't doing the greatest, Newman's excited to help lead the team to greatness.

Professional career
DSFL career
Newman started out his DSFL career with the Norfolk Seawolves, being picked up off of waivers in the last part of the 2051 season. He had an ok start to his DSFL career, getting into 3 games and getting 37 receiving yards for an average of 12.3 yards per game. He was picked with the 6th pick of the 2052 DSFL draft to the Norfolk Seawolves and he began to blossom. In the 2052 season, he got into all 14 games, averaging 11.8 yards per carry, 60.6 yards per game, and ending up with 849 yards and 5 touchdowns. He vastly improved his yards per game mainly cause of getting more playing time and he improved his number of 20+ yard plays by 10. Newman was selected with the 13th pick of the 2053 ISFL draft to the Austin Copperheads and immediately called up, switching to runningback in the process.
ISFL career
Prior to the 2053 season, Newman was called up unexpectedly to the Austin Copperheads to cover some needs in the runningback and receiving corps. Even though he didn't get the most amount of touches being a relatively new member of the team, Newman did pretty decently. He ran for 168 yards in 35 attempts, averaging 4.8 yards per attempt, caught 6 passes for 43 yards, averaging 7.2 yards per catch, and did very well on special teams, getting 783 kick return yards for 35 kick returns, averaging 22.4 yards per kick return. This is all despite starting just one game thanks again to him being relatively low on the totem pole due to the fact that he was just a rookie. Overall, Newman's pretty pleased with his rookie year numbers and hopes to do one better next season with more improvements. Newman had 2 touchdowns on the ground as well.
In the 2054 season, Newman received a greater share of the touches in the running game and also got more involved in the receiving game. As a result, his stats continued to go up to a decent level this season. He helped lead the Copperheads back to the playoffs despite losing in the first round to the New Orleans Second Line. His stats were buffered by being part of a committee but Newman didn't mind that at all; his stats still were competent despite that and it let him ease his way into the main RB role over time. Newman started 7 games for the Copperheads and played in all 16 games, rushing for 642 yards in 147 attempts resulting in an average of 40.1 yards per game and 4.4 yards per attempt. On the receiving end, Newman received the ball for 254 yards in 26 attempts resulting in an average of 9.8 yards per attempt and 15.9 yards per game. It wasn't much but it was crucial to help diversity the Copperheads offense and give opposing defense one more thing to keep in mind. Newman had 8 touchdowns on the ground as well. Newman did his job on the offensive line as well, getting 17 pancakes and only 2 sacks allowed. Newman hopes to continue to improve as he enters his third season now as part of the Copperheads.
