Growing up in Santa Barbara California, Damian spent a lot of time at the beach. Surfing and having a good time. His Father played for USC and coached the team in his youth so he spent a lot of time around football as a young child. Going to practices and games gave him a unique perspective as a kid, allowing him to improve faster than the other kids. Growing up he always wanted to play Quarterback at USC like his father did. Tragedy struck though when Damian was in High School. His father was killed in a tragic car accident during Damian's Freshman year of high school. He played QB in High School to honor his father and broke a few school records, and making the state championship twice, though losing both times. By the time College came around he wasn't getting many offers from schools. They just weren't impressed with his arm. He had the smarts though, to read the defense and call plays. Finally he was scouted by USC and the coaches gave him a call, saying they wanted him to play for them, but the only way he would start on the team is in another position. They tried him out at a few positions, his size and speed made him a good fit for most positions. But once he tried safety they saw all they needed to see. That began his journey at Free Safety and he has never looked back. Honoring his Fathers memory by playing at his old school, Quarterbacking the defense rather than the offense.

Started as a True Freshman when the previous starter went down with Injury. Did not make a huge impact, but finished the year with 2 sacks, 1 Interception and 31 tackles. Sophomore year saw marked improvement as he tallied up 3 sacks, 4 Interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries along with 51 tackles. As a Junior he really stood apart. Finishing the season again with 3 sacks, but adding 8 Interceptions and 2 returned for a TD. He also had 3 tackles for loss and 3 Forced Fumbles, but only recovered two. He was nearly a Lock for a first round DSFL draft pick. But after his Senior debut game where he saw two Interceptions, his nightmare became reality when he tore his ACL ending his senior season.

The DSFL draft rounds came and went with nobody wanting to a risk a pick on a player with a freshly healed ACL tear. He had solid measurables at the combine, but nobody wanted to risk spending a draft pick for an injury prone player. Wall after the draft ended and his phone remained silent, Minnesota took a shot in the dark with a waiver wire pick up and have not looked back. In his debut season Blackfyre recorded 46 tackles, a forced fumble and 3 pass defenses. He was obviously still unsure of himself, and a bit timid after his injury. But so far in his second season he really showed his true colors on the field. With one game left he is tied for first in interceptions with 4, tied for first in forced fumbles and recoveries with 3/2 respectively, and with 3 sacks and a tackle for loss he has made his role on the defence clear. P.L.A.Y.M.A.K.E.R. He has been making plays everywhere and can only hope to continue this level of play into the ISFL when he gets called up.

Damian Blackfyre (born July 5, 2001) was an American football safety for the Minnesota Grey Ducks of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

College career

DSFL career
