Season Format
The SFC season format consists of a four-week preseason, a fourteen-week regular season (each team plays 14 games), and a four-team single-elimination playoff culminating in the Ultimini Bowl, the league's championship game.
History
Both the NFC and SFC were created during the inaugural year of 2018 (S3) when the league commissioning board approved for the expansion for a development league. In 2037 (S22) the Dallas Birddogs joined the conference as the fourth team.
The first title was won by the Norfolk Seawolves. After that, Portland would win one title then Palm Beach would win one (Palm Beach is now Myrtle Beach). After that, Tijuana and San Antonio would start their rivalry. From 2021 (S6) to 2029 (S14) and from 2031 (S16) to 2033 (S18), either Tijuana and San Antonio would represent the SFC (Tijuana has 10 wins while San Antonio has 3). This streak was broken by the Palm Beach Solar Bears in 2030 (S15) when they would make an NFC Championship appearances, which they won. Starting in season 7, the Luchadores completed the first ever five-peat in SFC history, ranging from 2022 (S7) to 2027 (S12). The Luchadores also lead the conference in SFC Championship appearances with 15 separate appearances. The Tijuana Luchadores and the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers are the only teams from the SFC that have won mutliple Ultimini titles.
