Darren "Checkers" Smallwood (born January 10, 1997) is an American football runningback for the New Orleans Second Line of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He played college football for Beloit College (BEL) before being drafted by the Yellowknife Wraiths in the 2017 ISFL Draft (S2).

Smallwood was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Avril and James Smallwood. From a young age, Smallwood was often helping his family and hoping to live their dreams as a doctor. Smallwood played baseball and football in college, but was considered mediocre at both.

Professional career
Darren Smallwood declared as a wide receiver for the draft. After starting off strong in the NSFL preseason, Darren Smallwood became the second wide receiver on the depth chart behind Josh Garden. After playing decently on the team, in a six-game road trip, Darren Smallwood was traded to the San Jose Sabercats for the star wide receiver Bailey Cook.
