At the age of 5 they moved to central Utah where he attended North Sanpete High School. His first love was actually basketball. But standing at only 5'10"" had its downside, as he struggles vs larger opponents. He was the schools starting point guard his sophomore and junior years of Varsity. Entering his sophomore year he was able to play in 2 games before being sidelined after being in a car crash and suffering a broken foot, hand and collarbone. He rushed for 375 yards and 5 TDs.
