Season Format
The NSFC season format consists of a four-week preseason, a fourteen-week regular season (each team plays 13 games), and a four-team single-elimination playoff culminating in the Ultimus Bowl, the league's championship game.
History
Both the NSFC and ASFC were created during the inaugural year of 2016 (S1). During NSFL season 2 expansion draft one more team joined the NSFC - Philadelphia Liberty. 14 years later in the Season 16 Expansion Draft the conference added the Chicago Butchers. In 2037 (S22) the Sarasota Sailfish joined the conference as the third expansion team.
The first title was won by the Colorado Yeti. After that, we had a period of back to back titles: Baltimore Hawks (2017 (S2), 2018 (S3)) followed by the Yellowknife Wraiths (2019 (S4), 2020 (S5)) and Philadelphia Liberty (2021 (S6), 2022 (S7)). After that Yellowknife won one more ASFC Championship in 2023 (S8). Starting in season 9, the Hawks completed the first ever four-peat in NSFC history, ranging from 2024 (S9) to 2027 (S12). The Baltimore Hawks lead the conference in NSFC Championship appearances with 13 separate appearances. The Baltimore Hawks are also the only NSFC team to win multiple Ultimus Bowls.
