Career highlights and awards

Wendell Sailor (born April 14, 2023) was an American football quarterback for the Arizona Outlaws.

Early years

Wendell was always an extremely gifted athlete growing up. One of those kids that is just always outside and could seemingly pick up any sport and after a short time he would be very proficient at it. As he moved into high school and started to narrow focus instead of playing anything and one sport that he loved to play was baseball, and he was a pitcher. It was pretty apparent even from a very young age that he could throw extremely accurately and with velocity and set many records in his school competition and even some in the local mens compeititions playing mainly out of the bullpen for them but it was still impressive at that age that he could be pitching that well to fully grown men. Some of his family and team mates were suggesting he should try moving to America if he was wanting to try and make a career out of sport but at this age he was fairly unsure about leaving Brisbane.

College career

His ability to pitch did not go unnoticed for very long at all as scouts from the International Simulation Football League would come to watch some of his baseball games and it was suggested by one such scout that he should move over to America and start working on becoming a quarter back for the International Simulation Football League. He took this advice on board and did move over but to late to really be into a college system so he decided to skip that altogether and just go straight to the draft. He played around in some local leagues for the end of the season they were currently playing and got a bit of time at quarter back but mostly he was waiting for draft day. Sailor was not to fussed where he would go but looking at his positioning and openings, there wasn't many teams that would be able to take a quarter back so it would be interesting to see how it panned out for him during the draft.

Wendell Sailor. Yes. 47 on the wonderlic is nice. Got like, no athleticism though. If the pocket collapses, better pray the nanobots can rebuild this man, because he's not escaping a damn thing. Not even a wet paper bag judging by his bench reps.

Professional career

2048

This season was the rookie season for the young former Portland Pythons quarterback. He made the step up to the big leagues and made his debut for the Arizona Outlaws and straight up he had a mammoth task in the Austin Copperheads. Wendell got his career off to a flying start with not only throwing his first career touchdown but also his first 5 touchdowns and finished the game with zero picks and a passer rating of 137.5. All in all a dream start for the young rookie.

Week 4 for the Outlaws was a tricky game. They were off to a flying leading 21-0 early in the game but let the lead slip and ended up behind the Sabercats late in the game. There was one last drive to save it and as the clock struck down to zero Wendell managed to find an open Kotoni Staggs with a 53 yard pass to score a touchdown and win the match. When asked about this moment after the match Sailor had this to say "Man this is just unreal. You grow up playing football and wanting to make an impact and be able to win games for your team and to be able to link up there with Staggs for that final pass and secure the win for the team that is just why we play this game. Full credit to the boys today, they really dug in and everyone gave 110% and that's all you can ask at the end of the day."

In the 5th game of the season the Outlaws played the Second Line from New Orleands. This was the 3rd of 5 games that Wendell had thrown 5 touchdowns in and had already moved off the bottom place in the passing touchdowns ranking for Arizona quaterbacks.

The rest of the season went well for the Outlaws with dropping a few games here and there but they finished as the best team in the league and one seed in the conference. Playoffs however were much the usual story with a loss at home to the Orange County Otters in the conference championship game.

2049

Wendell Sailor had a bit of a down season compared to the high bar he set for himself in season thirty four. It is never hard to play at an MVP level so it is noticable the next season when the play drops off. Starting the season was a little slow for Sailor but he did warm into the season and end up playing at a solid and consistent level and while he fell a few short of his touchdown mark from the previous season he did reach close to the yard mark.

One thing that Sailor was most happy about was the way the team rallied. After a slow start to the season the team really came together and made an effort for a push to the playoffs again winning seven of the last ten games they played. This was great momentum coming into the playoffs and they then handled New Orleans and really took it to Honolulu who ended up just being to good on the day.

2050

After the down year that was S34 of the International Simulation Football League, Wendell Sailor wasted absolutely no time getting back to the MVP level of play he expected of himself. Many were predicting a down year in general for the Arizona Outlaws but that was just something that Wendell was not going to let happen. With help from running back Jay Cue Jr. the two of them led this offence and the team to a 13-3 record in the ASFC and was good enough for tied first in the division and the league.

Unfortunately for the team but the Honolulu Hahalua had the tiebreaker over the Outlaws so they were awarded home field advantage in the playoffs and after splitting the games 1-1 with teams both taking their home games it was just enough for the Hahalua to move on from the conference championship game and become Ultimus winners in the end after beating Arizona 26-20.

2051

This season for Wendell Sailor started out slowly for the Quarterback of the Arizona Outlaws in the ASFC conference of the International Simulation Football League. Big things were expected from him being the reigning MVP. After a few games into the season though he had only managed a handful of touchdowns and even more interceptions. This got the team off to a slow start with them losing 4 of the first 7 games in the season. Things would turn around for Wendell and the team won 6 of the next 9 games and his season improved to a decent level getting his QBR up north of 90% to finish off a season that was just ok. So far it had been an up and down career for the quarterback having amazing seasons in 2048 and 2050 and then down seasons in 2049 and 2051. So this just means some big things are coming in 2052 for Wendell Sailor and the Arizona Outlaws.

2052

This season for Wendell Sailor and the Arizona Outlaws was an interesting one with a slow start. Outlaws fans have become accustomed to starting slow and picking up speed which being like a train has lead to the faith train meme as they pick up steam through the season. After 8 weeks into the season the team was sitting at a lowly 3-5 record. After a disappointing game the QB for the Outlaws decided he needed to do something to turn the season around. He got the whole team together for a meeting. He said they needed to forget about the first half of the season and what mattered was the second half of the season and they were going to "RUN THE TABLE!" Little did he know this would lead to one of the more miraculous runs we have seen in the International Simulation Football League. The Outlaws after this strung together 8 straight wins against anyone that they played to finish the season an impressive 11-5 from where they were earlier in the season. This was enough for Arizona to secure first seed in the ASFC and led to a week off in the playoffs. They were then to play Honolulu and Sarasta in the Ultimus Bowl which they beat putting together 10 straight wins as a team and winning the teams first Ultimus since S16. Sailor himself ended the season also with the most TDs in the ISFL and the highest QBR for S37 in the ISFL.

2053

In a very different feel to last season, this season was off to a rocketting start for Wendell Sailor and the Arizona Outlaws. Coming off the back of the cities first Ultimus win in over 20 years the team hit the ground running and won 9 of the first 10 games. Wendell Sailor was having his best season that he had had in a few season it the whole team was humming along very well. Arizona ended the season with a record of 13-3 a full three games ahead of any other team in the league. Sailor finished the season with the highest QBR in the league and had a generally great season that saw him in contention for the ISFL MVP. Sailor didn't have the best playoffs run that he's had throwing a pick in both of the games and had less yards than most of his playoff seasons. In the end though the team as a whole worked well enough together to bring the Ultimus back to Arizona and the Outlaws went back to back in the ISFL.

2054

Season 39 was an interesting one for Wendell Sailor and the Arizona Outlaws. Coming off back to back Ultimus Bowl winning seasons there was a bit of an air around the team that the regular season was just really a road bump on the way to the playoffs again and it was just something that needed to happen before they could get to the real games that actually mattered. For the most part also that is how the season panned out with them losing the odd game here and there but after 16 games of the regular season the Arizona.

When it came to the playoffs, they were a disappointment without really being a disappointment. Sailor really wanted to make a threepeat but only one team can win the Ultumus any given season and even just making the final game of the season is an incredible feat but on the day the Yellowknife Wraiths were just too good of a football team and the Outlaws ended up losing the Ultumus.

2055

Season 40 ended up being a great year for Wendell Sailor and his Arizona Outlaws. Back out on the field and with a giant chip on their shoulder and a point to prove after losing to the Yellowknife Wraiths in the S39 Ultimus. Some in the media had called the squad old, past their prime, on the decline and that they mightn't even make the playoffs. This became a war cry for the Outlaws that lasted the whole season and right to the end of the Ultimus. Wendell Sailor was heard yelling into the mic when he received the Ultimus trophy "Not bad for a bunch of old and over the hill bums!"

This cry did a lot to gel the team through the season and keep them focused on one goal - winning the Ultimus again. They dominated the regular season winning 14 games and only losing 2 and then won the conference championship game against the Otters by a score of 37-17 and then backed it up a week later putting the Wraiths away by a score of 45-21 and in doing so put to rest any nightmares that the team had from the season previous.

2055

Season 41 was the last season for Wendell Sailor and he knew this going in. The team had a very rough start to the season as they started a very rocky 2-5 which was leading to some in the media calling for the immediate retirement of Wendell Sailor and to bring in his replacement. Wendell said he knew it was all under control and he still had what it took to dominate. He told the media that this team would run the table for the rest of the season and this would be a repeat of S37. This worked out very well and ended up happening with the team winning every game for the rest of the season and finished 2nd in the ASFC. They beat Orange County in the first round and then knocked off Honolulu in the conference championship game. In the end they ultimately fell short by 1 play to the S41 champions in the Cape Town Crash.
