Turt "Rock" Golum (born May 4, 2001) is an American football tight end who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks.He played college football for Purdue University and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Turt Golum was born in White Lake, MI to Jude and Rolph Golum. As an only child, Turt was given every opportunity to explore his interests, and over his years he picked up many hobbies: Cycling, construction, electronics, sewing, Turt tried his hand at everything. But once he found football, he instantly fell in love and delved as deep into the sport as he could. By the time he hit middle school, Turt was talking schemes to his coaches that they couldnt even follow. It became clear to his parents that White Lake wasn't the place for Turt to excel, so they moved their family to a top end football high school for Turt to shine. The move turned out to be a good one. As a student athlete and assistant coach, Turt helped lead his team to a state championship in only his Sophomore year. The team followed that up with another 2 trips to the final game but came up short each time. Those defeats fueled Turt throughout his career.

College career

With no offers from his home state, Turt found his new home in West Lafayette, IN. As a raw freshman at Purdue, Turt was redshirted so he could develop and learn from Purdue's tag team of Senior Tight Ends. They mentored him throughout his redshirt year and he came out the next summer ready for action. Before his first playing season even began, he had film notes from last years opponents in the coach's hands. The coaches were very impressed and put Turt in the starting spot, which turned some heads from anyone paying attention to the TE battle. Turt struggled mightily in his first 3 games, letting up 5 sacks and failing to make blocks or big plays. He knew the assignments, but it was clear Turt had more work to do in the gym. With the starting job out of sight for the remainder of his 2nd season, Turt kept his focus on developing physically and on studying game film. Turt would go on to start his Junior and play up to standard thanks to his focus and effort, but his Senior year is where he really began to shine. He built trust with his coaches and helped tweak their offense to fit their personnel a bit better. This move helped catapult their efficiency, as their offense became the #1 rushing attack in the nation. Purdue peaked at #4 in the country but was defeated by OSU in the playoffs. Turt failed to receive any accolades in college, mostly due to his gritty playstyle that paved the way for others to shine.
