Template:TOC 2D/doc

Purpose

This template is designed to provide a two-dimensional table of contents, for where there is a substantial quantity of third-level headings with short titles, which, importantly, still make sense when run horizontally. This template should not be used if the resulting TOC could be confusing to users; in this case, consider using Template:TOC limit to prevent some levels of headings being displayed, instead.
