Stephen Murphy (born March 17, 2037) is an American football tight end who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for University of Galway and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

"Stephen was born in Dublin. His parents owned the local bar and helped manage the local semi-pro basketball team. Stephen attended St. Patrick's Preparatory School for High School where he was a multi-sport star in Basketball, Hurling and Gealic Football. He was named all-county in all three sports and led his basketball team to a runner-up finish in the All-Ireland Tournament in his Junior year.

It was his 35 point - 15 rebound performance along with a highlight reel dunk in the championship game that first put him on the radar of US football scouts who were intrigued by his athleticism despite his lack of on field experience.

Stephen also led the U18 Ireland Men's Basketball team to the European Small Country Championships, but they were quickly eliminated after lopsided losses to Andorra and Gibraltar.

During high school, Stephen had his first exposure to football when he attended a early season contest between Notre Dame and Boston College during his senior year."

College career

"Despite offers to be a preferred walk-on at numerous FBS schools, Stephen elected to remain in Ireland for college. He continued to play basketball and became a YouTube sensation for his highlight reel dunks.

It wasn't until his junior year of college that he seriously considered playing football in the US. In multiple interviews, he had credited his basketball coach with sharing the story of Antonio Gates and convincing him that he could be successful as a football player. It was in the spring of his Junior year, when Stephen began exploring options to move to the US in order to prepare for and enter the draft.

After graduating early from the University of Galway, Stephen spent a year in Florida learning about football and preparing for the draft. During this time, he quickly rose up the draft boards as he demonstrated a tenacious work ethic and outstanding athleticisim. In general, scouts had mixed opinions of his prospects for professional football because many questioned his commitment to the game and his lack of game experience."
