Smitty Oom (born October 8, 1998) is an American football defensive tackle who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks.He played college football for University College of Trollhättan/Uddevalla and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Smitty Oom is originally from a small village 50km outside of Trolhattan, Sweden. Little is known about his family history; according to local residents, Smitty arrived one day on the front steps of Anders and Andrika Oom when he was a newborn. His birthparents have never been identified or located. As a youngster, he quickly became known as a supremely gifted child, often besting children several years older than him in feats of strength and speed. He became interested in weightlifting at age 14, and was known to wrap heavy chains around his limbs and waist as he completed tasks around the family farm. Notably, Smitty did not play organized American Football during his teenaged years; instead, he participated in a local curling league, which he also excelled at. At age 17, he was approached by the University College of Trollhattan coach Nicklas Lidström about joining the school's football team, despite never having played a snap of organized football in his life.

College career

Smitty walked on to the University College of Trollhattan as a raw prospect, but coaches were quickly enamored with his incredible tenacity and never-ending drive. He was quick to learn the basics of playing defense, and was "unblockable" during practice due to his strength and endurance. Smitty did not play during the first half of his freshman year, but came on the field in relief for an injured Peter Forsberg during the 3rd quarter of a late season game and recorded 2 sacks and 7 tackles during the 24-21 loss. Smitty was announced as the starting defensive tackle the following week, a role he kept through the remainder of the season and throughout his sophomore year.

His physical play and incredible drive were heightened as his sophomore season wore on, as Smitty became known as the "king of trash talk" during games, including famously reciting the phone number of opposing team's QB's girlfriends during games.
