Mills Wallace (born July 3, 2020) is an American football kicker for the Norfolk Seawolves of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Mills Wallace was born to Mike Willis and a mother he never knew. His father, Mike Willis, was a baseball player in a now defunct league. He had above average agility and the athleticism to play all nine positions on the field. Unfortunately only a year after he began playing, he broke his ankle after he got his foot stuck under 2nd base sliding in for a steal. He recovered after several months but his speed and leaping ability was greatly hindered. After just a short while back in baseball he retired from it entirely. Mike married Molly Willis, Moe Willis' mother two years after his exit from baseball. Molly got pregnant a year after their marriage and Moe Willis was born 9 months later. Mike Willis impressed a love of baseball upon his son early, and Moe grew to enjoy the game so much he would go on to play professionally in the PBE. While Moe was still in pre school, Mike learned about a local team that played an interesting kind of baseball- no fielding. Basically, it would be a one-one-one battle between the pitcher and the batter, and however far the batter hit the ball determined the kind of hit; single, double, triple, or home run. Mike was overjoyed by this discovery as it meant he could still play baseball on the weekends. One day while in a neighboring town Mike got a little tipsy after a win and fooled around a little bit. 9 months later, Mills Wallace was born. Mike decided to take Mills as he wanted another child in his life. Due to Mike Willis not wanting Molly to know that he had cheated on her while on the road, he declared he wanted to adopt the boy. After much persuasion, she agreed. Mills always looked up to Moe growing up, and they had a very close brotherly relationship with each other. Mills was another victim of the injury bug growing up, however. When he was 6 it was found he had Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). Because of his young age, Mills did recover after a long recovery but never regained use of his index finger on his throwing hand. This left him unable to properly grip both baseballs and footballs. Mike new his son wanted to exceed in sports so during Mills Junior year of high school he taught him to kick a football. Mills had a steep learning curve as he had to catch punt snaps without the use of a finger, but as soon as he learned it he began mastering it. Mills tried out for kicker his Senior year and broke the single season record for field goals at his high school.

College career

After graduating Mills received only one scholarship offer, from Northern Arizona University. While there he had to compete in his Freshman and Sophomore year for the starting spot against another top ISFL prospect. Mills had more power but less accuracy then the other so they were used in different situations by the head coach. In his Sophomore year he even set the record for longest field goal in school history when he nailed a 58 yarder. After clinching the starting spot his Junior year Mills won the countries Kicker of the year award and asked by several professional teams if he would consider playing in a smaller league, the DSFL for a couple of seasons so he could develop his skills and be scouted by teams. After a long period of consideration Mills, decided to ask his father what he thought. Mike told his son that he would support him in any decision he made, but if he was serious about going pro, this was the best way to do it. Mills ended up deciding to put his career on the line and join the closest stepping stone to the ISFL.
