Early years

Matthew Mayhem was born in Worcester Massachusetts, and lived there until highschool where he moved to a neighboring town. He was a two way player at Wachusett Regional Highschool in Holden Massachusetts, playing on both the Offenive and Defensive lines for the Mountaineers. Making the Varsity team in his Sophmore season, he quickly became a standout player and all-state linemen on both sides of the ball, and was elected as a captain for both his Junior and Senior seasons. He also played Varsity Baseball for three years, and passed on entering into a draft to play professional baseball, opting to attend college after graduating from Wachusett. Not only was Mayhem a success on the field, but he was also an honor roll student and member of numerous clubs and groups at the school. He was the first ever student athlete to be inducted into the schools hall of fame while still attending the high school, and rumor has it that the school may be renamed after him in the future.

Matthew Mayhem was a four year starter at Boston College, where he broke multiple game, season, and career records on defense. He set the single game tackle record in his Junior season, recording 26 tackles in one game. In his Senior season Mayhem recorded the most Sacks in a game when he took down the opposing Quarterback 6 times in a conference championship game. He also set single season records with 197 tackles and 23 sacks in his Senior season. Mayhem finished his career number one in both Sacks and Tackles, as he amassed 58 Sacks and 612 tackles over his impressive career. He was also voted Defensive Captain his Junior and Senior Seasons, as well as Defensive MVP in his senior year, to add to the Freshman of the year award that he earned his first season on campus. Mayhem also played Baseball for the Eagles in his Freshman year, but chose to give up the sport to focus on Football and his ambitions to go Pro after College.
