Slinky Claxton (born May 2, 2014) is an American football defensive end for the Austin Copperheads of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL).

Early years

Slinky was born in Flint, MI the son of Patricia and Terry. Claxton received a flute from his great aunt, and took lessons for eight years. Slinky would become an amazing floutist at a very young age. Touring the country with numerous jazz bands, Slinky was being teased for his enthusiasm for flute playing (and his name, Slinky). Slinky began an intense work out routine in order to destroy anyone who stood in the way of his flute playing. He got so strong, in fact, that his friends encouraged him to try out for the High School Football team. Slinky was a force to be reckoned with on the field. Having now mastered the flute, acting, and smashing on the football field; Slinky decided it was time to go to College to pursure his dreams.

College career

Slinky was awarded an Art Excellence scholarship and a full athletic scholarship for football at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He continued his entusiasm for Flute playing and played in a Jethro Tull cover band, "Cross-Eyed Mary". Slinky would catch the eye of a school director while performing on stage. Soon his acting career would begin to take off. Appearances in commercials, films, and music videos soon followed. His breakout role came in Friday After Next starring rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube. Having never taken acting classes, instead he asked himself what the audience wanted, and he believes this ultimately brought him success. Growing fond of acting, he was being tormented by his peers. Finally, in order to feed his inner anger, Slinky would snap and go back to his football past. His Senior year, he would try out for the team at WMU and walk on the team. His lone Season with WMU he would finish first team All-American and lead the Broncos to a MAC Championship.

Slinky Claxton would begin his DSFL Career after being selected with the 43rd Overall pick by the Portland Pythons. Slinky would be considered one of the top Defensive Ends in a very deep draft class making him a desirable player. Highlighted by his Speed and Strength, Claxton would play in every game for Portland on a fairly stacked Defensive Line that had some second-year players. Despite being buried a bit in the depth chart, Claxton would lead all Rookie Defensive Ends in tackles, recording 43. However, he would only record 7 tackles for a loss and 0 sacks. This somewhat disappointing given Claxton’s pedigree. Claxton also would start out the season racking up numerous bone headed penalties. Fortunately, it seemed he would grow better disciplined and clean his play up in the second half of the season. Portland would have a solid season finishing 8-6 and improving on their previous 2-12 record. This in large part due to a very strong Rookie class that they brought in on Defense. In the playoffs, Portland would fall in a tough loss against the Kansas City Coyotes, 31-7. Following the loss, many questions remain up in the air for how next year’s squad would be looking in Portland.

At the conclusion of the DSFL Season, Claxton would declare for the NSFL draft. Many are viewing him as Top 5 Defensive End talent. Once again being in a very large draft class, many writers see Claxton going somewhere between 25th and 50th overall. Claxton seemed to start becoming a dominate run stopper in the DSFL and his future looking bright.

In the S22 NSFL Draft, Slinky Claxton would fall to the 64th pick being selected by the Arizona Outlaws. This is a move that shocked many as Claxton was expected to go at least top 50, however, many of the top Defensive Ends of this class fell in the draft. Following the draft, the Outlaws would elect keeping Claxton down in the DSFL for another season. In his second DSFL Season, Claxton would quickly become one of the leaders of the defense, being named co-captain. His off the field presence would never quite live up to the hype as on the field he regressed in total tackles, significantly. Much of the same could be said for the Pythons squad as they would finish the season with a 5-9 record, missing the playoffs. On top of the harsh season outcome for the Pythons, Claxton would face uncertainty going into the next season. Arizona would appear to not have a solid spot for him on their defense and it was looking like Claxton would be destined for yet another year in the DSFL on the Pythons. However, the value of a solid Defensive Line had proven to be strong and soon teams would come reaching out for Claxtons efforts. Prior to the S23 NSFL Draft, Claxton would be traded to the Austin Copperheads in exchange for a few draft picks. There was never a chance for Claxton to compete with the Outlaws, however, he wished the whole team well as he would set his sights on making an impact in the NSFL. The Copperheads would seemingly have a spot on their Defensive Line for Claxton, thus likely ending his DSFL Career. Time will tell to see how Claxton would fit in with Austin as they would look to bolster their defense with this trade.
