Owen Holloway (born May 29, 1998) is an American football quarterback who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Kent State University (KSU) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Owen Holloway was born and raised in Anaheim, California, and played high school football at Junipero Serra in San Mateo, California. Prior to his senior year of high-school, he reclassified to remain in high school for an additional year and give himself a chance to be the team's starting quarterback. He was named All-State as a senior, his only year as the team's starter. He was listed as an unranked Dual-Threat Quarterback according to 247 and Rivals, and received offers from several Division I programs asking him to transition to wide receiver. Only one team, Kent State, where he ultimately signed, offered him the chance to play quarterback. Holloway was later quoted as saying that he regretted not being open to playing wide receiver in exchange for the opportunity to first compete as a quarterback at other schools, saying that the lack of competition at Kent State ultimately stunted his development.

College career

Holloway did not play in his freshman year with Kent State, and instead spent the season as the backup to Charles Birmingham. Holloway took over as the team's starter in his sophomore season, leading the Flashes to a 6-6 record. He largely struggled as a passer, throwing for fewer than 2,000 yards and throwing more interceptions than touchdowns. Holloway's junior season saw him lead the team to a 3-2 start before dropping three consecutive games, largely due to poor play from Holloway. He was benched after 8 games, giving way to George Carson. Carson was set to enter the subsequent season as the team's starter before suffering a torn ACL in spring practice, again leaving Holloway as the starter. Holloway's senior season was by far his best, as the Flashes won 8 games and Holloway accounted for more than 2,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards, leading Kent State to a bowl win over Boston College. He declared for the DSFL Draft at the conclusion of the season.
