Owen Holloway (born October 29, 2018) is an American football quarterback who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Kent State University (KSU) and has declared his intent to enter the DSFL next season.

Early years

Owen Holloway was born and raised in Anaheim, California, and played high school football at Junipero Serra in San Mateo, California. Prior to his senior year of high-school, he reclassified in order to graduate a season early and transition to the college ranks as early as possible. He was named All-State as a senior, his second year as the team's starter. He was listed as an unranked Dual-Threat Quarterback by both 247 and Rivals, and received offers from several Division I programs asking him to transition to wide receiver. Only one team, Kent State, where he ultimately signed, offered him the chance to play quarterback. Holloway was later quoted as saying that he regretted not being open to playing wide receiver in exchange for the opportunity to first compete as a quarterback at other schools, believing that the lack of competition at Kent State ultimately left him complacent and stunted his overall development as a quarterback.

College career

Holloway took the reigns as the starter for the Golden Flashes in his freshman year with Kent State, and winning the job in a spring battle with sophomore Charles Birmingham, who was the team's primary backup the season before. In his inaugural season as the starting quarterback, he led the Golden Flashes to a 6-6 record. He largely struggled as a passer, throwing for fewer than 2,000 yards and throwing more interceptions than touchdowns. Holloway's sophomore season began with another off-season quarterback competition. He managed to hold onto the job, and led the team to a 3-2 start before dropping three consecutive games. Holloway was benched after 8 games, giving way to George Carson. Carson was set to enter the subsequent season as the team's starter before suffering a torn ACL in spring practice, again leaving Holloway as the team's starter entering the new season. His junior season was by far his best, as the Golden Flashes won 8 games and Holloway accounted for more than 1,500 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards, also leading Kent State to a bowl win over Boston College. He declared for the DSFL Draft at the conclusion of the season.
