At a young age, he attended prestigious camps. He attended East Boston High school, and played in 2 state championships, having lost both of them. He became a 3 star recruit, and eventually chose the University of Connecticut, over Boston College, Buffalo, UMass, and Syracuse. During his junior year of high school, Acho started playing organized football for the first time in his life. At the request of his father, Marquees started bulking up immediately after his junior year ended. This training regiment saw Acho gain 25 pounds in 4 months. That spring, he walked on to a talent-less UConn football team and immediately started to shine. He was soon named a starter after the annual UConn Spring Game.
