Marquees Acho (born January 13, 2011) is an American football mlb for the Norfolk Seawolves of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL). He played college football for University of Connecticut (UConn) before being drafted by the Norfolk Seawolves in the 2029 DSFL Draft (S14).

Early years

Marquees Acho was born to parents Jamal and Lilian Acho in April of 2011. Marquees' mother was a famous interpretive dancer, appearing on America's Got Talent season 16. Marquees father was a famous cricket player, who appeared in multiple cricket championships. Instead of following in either of his parents' footsteps, Acho became a point guard. At a young age, he attended prestigious camps. He attended East Boston High school, and played in 2 state championships, having lost both of them. He became a 3 star recruit, and eventually chose the University of Connecticut, over Boston College, Buffalo, UMass, and Syracuse. During his junior year of high school, Acho started playing organized football for the first time in his life. He played tight end, though his high school playing days failed to generate much collegiate notice, if any.

College career

Marquees originally committed to UConn to play basketball as a 3 star point guard, which he did for 3 seasons. However, he did not get much meaningful playtime. At the request of his father, Marquees started bulking up immediately after his junior year ended. This training regiment saw Acho gain 25 pounds in 4 months. That spring, he walked on to a talent-less UConn football team and immediately started to shine. He was soon named a starter after the annual UConn Spring Game. Acho had 85 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and an interception his senior year. This earned him 1st team All- AAC honors, 2nd team All- American honors, and was a Bilotnikoff Award finalist. Unfortunately, controversy ensued when Acho was arrested in connection of the murder of two men outside of an Atlanta night club. He pleaded not guilty, with charges eventually being dropped. Shortly after, Acho announced he would be attending the NSFL prospect bowl, to which he was picked up by the Atlantic Blackbirds. Acho started every game, and was one of the leading defenders in the entire Prospect Bowl, anchoring a tough Blackbird defense.

Professional career

DSFL career

Acho played well in the Prospect Bowl, and was a 3 down Middle Linebacker for the Atlantic Blackbirds. He led the Blackbirds with 32 tackles and 3 forced fumbles. He also had 3 sacks, and proved himself to be serviceable in coverage. Following the Blackbirds disappointing miss of the playoffs, Acho trained with a speed and strength coach to improve. He was picked with the 49th pick of the 2029 DSFL draft to the expansion Norfolk Seawolves, where is was the starting Middle Linebacker. His first season was very successful, getting 126 total tackles, 4 sacks, and a pick six. He helped lead a talented young defense to the conference championship game against the Portland Pythons. Norfolk lost a heart-breaking game on the road, 16-13.

After, Acho unfortunately was not well perceived in the upcoming NSFL draft, and was lightly scouted, despite showing promise both on the field and in the locker room. He eventually went with the 3rd pick in the 4th round of the S15 NSFL Draft, to the S14 runner up Baltimore Hawks.

The Baltimore Hawks were loaded with talent, so Acho was sent down for a final season in the DSFL with the Seawolves. This was a much tougher season for them overall, as they barely missed the playoffs by 1 game. Acho did accomplish a lot individually, however, as his 170 tackles was good enough for 3rd all time in a season at the time. This was also followed by the bittersweet moment of the Hawks winning the Ultimus, which Acho does receive any recognition for as he was a send-down.

NSFL career

Acho eventually got called up following the Hawks Ultimus win in S15. S16 was a let down, as the Hawks missed the playoffs due to a tie-breaker. This would be the only time Acho would miss the playoffs with the Hawks.

S17 would see a much better Hawks team, as they finished 2nd in a three-way tie in the NSFC. The Hawks would beat the Butchers and the Wraiths en route to an Ultimus loss against the Orange County Otters Dynasty.

S18 was a solid yet forgettable season. The Hawks finished below .500, but managed 2nd place and finished the season with a conference championship loss.

S19 was more of the same. The Hawks finished 2nd for the 3rd year in a row, only to lose in the conference championship to Yellowknife.

S20 was a step below in all regards. The Hawks finished 3rd, and lost in round 1 to Colorado. This season also saw Acho transition to cornerback.

In S21, Marquees Acho finally called it a career. This was also a a great season for him, as the Hawks won the conference for the first time since S15. They unfortunately lost to Yellowknife in the conference championship game. Acho himself had his best season; he was Defensive Back of the Year runner up as well as a unanimous Pro Bowl selection.
