Lennox Fabian Garnett (born January 10, 2003) is an American football safety who plays for the Kansas City Coyotes. He played college football for Howard University, before being selected sixth overall in the 2025 DSFL Draft (S10).

Early years

Lennox Garnett was born in Rock River, Clarendon, Jamaica to Marcia and Donovan Garnett. Like many from his hometown, his parents moved to the United States when he was young, leaving him to be raised by a friend of the family, known only as "Miss Rita". While abroad, his parents saved enough money to send for him when he was ten years old. Upon arrival in Palmetto Estates, Florida, he found he had two younger siblings, Aaron and Tanya. The move to Florida was difficult for Lennox, who initially struggled in school as he felt he did not fit in, and many teachers could not understand his strong Caribbean accent.

Lennox had not been particularly interested in sports back in Jamaica, but dabbled in athletics and occasionally soccer. In his final year at Richmond Heights Middle School, Lennox had a growth spurt and was encouraged to take up sports more seriously. He would compete in track events for the Raiders, showing some promise, while also training with the football and basketball teams. At Coral Reef High, Lennox dove into football, where he quickly learned his sprint speed could make a difference for the Barracudas. By senior year, he was entrenched in the football team as a versatile defensive player, taking snaps at linebacker, cornerback, and safety. He left high school having lettered three years in football, and once in basketball.

In 2021, Garnett was named a four-star football recruit by Rivals.com. Upon graduating high school, Garnett, at his parents' suggestions, took a partial scholarship offer to study at Howard University, where he majored in Finance.

College career

Playing for the Howard Bison football team from 2021 to 2024, Garnett started 37 of 46 games at safety, including two Celebration Bowl starts. Freshman year, he started six games in the secondary, after impressing as a backup during the first half of the season. He ended the year with a total of 67 tackles (plus four more tackles for loss) and 2 sacks, alongside 3 interceptions. Sophomore year saw a significant improvement, as Garnett almost doubled his output, picking up 121 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, and 5 interceptions. The highlight of the year came when he returned an interception 86 yards for a touchdown against Delaware State.

Junior year, Garnett was a standout defensive player as the Bison made it to the Celebration Bowl. Taking snaps at linebacker as well as safety, Garnett totaled a career-best 137 tackles and was awarded the Celebration Bowl Defensive MVP award in the win over Grambling State. The Bison would return to the Celebration Bowl the following year, with Garnett taking a starring role yet again, picking up 123 tackles on the season, as well as returning three interceptions for touchdowns. This time, they beat the Alcorn State Braves to be crowned "black college football national champions", with Garnett playing an integral role in the Bisons' fourth-quarter comeback by returning a kickoff for 82 yards to set up the game-winning touchdown, after a red zone interception on the previous drive had given the Bison a chance to tie the score up. For the second consecutive year, he was named Celebration Bowl Defensive MVP.

College career statistics

Garnett left college having made a name for himself as a versatile defensive playmaker with over four hundred tackles, seventeen sacks, twenty interceptions and a total of eleven touchdowns from interception, fumble and kick returns.
